Just picked up my 2011.5 e92 M3

Just got back into an M3 again after 12 years... Traded in my mint Lexus ISF (great car but I needed a manual) So far the car feels amazing!
I will post pics soon!

I looked at the IS-F. Really nice car. High level of refinement and bulletproof build quality. Some of the things that led me to the M3:

1. I have a 4-door SUV for when I need that level of practicality, so I really wanted a coupe.

2. The M3 has a heritage, and I found that appealing

3. I really couldn't get over the exhaust outlet design of the IS-F. Other than that I think the Lexus IS is one of the nicest 4-door designs on the road.

4. I wanted a proper manual for my fun car also.

I would be curious to hear from you after about a month on how it compares to the IS-F.

Happy Trails !!!

I can tell you after 8hours the car is much better than the ISF.
The ISF might be a little quicker but thats irrelevant to me.
My wife drives a 2010 Audi S4 double clutch, that is our winter car for now.
As far as the ISF exhaust goes, I guess I got used to it after a while, the ride however is very firm and at times uncomfortable.

I do think that if there is a gen 2 ISF, it will be a pretty great car, Ive never been a fan of Lexus but some how the ISF "got me" when I was car shopping back in 08.

What? ISF, even after it's revision has never been shown to be faster than an M3.

wait till after break in and you learn to work the S65 engine. The torque on the ISF makes it feel faster but the again, after break-in the S65 will rock your world.

Congrats!

Pics please.

I also looked at the ISF before purchasing the M3. Loved the exhaust note especially after 3500 RPM. Car looks great inside and out, but didn't like the interior choices.....couldn't just get black leather, you either got the alcantara, white seats, or halloween orange inserts. They really should have kept the tera-cotta inserts.

My thing was the tranny. Didn't feel like it was geared for a sports car. Felt like it wanted to get to 8th as quick as possible and stay there.

But congratulations! I would also like to see a detailed comparo after you have had some time with the M

Congrats!
I actually sold my IS-F and am my M3 is at the dealer as we speak, still trying to sort out the lease buyout price, before I determine how whether I'm gonna lease (that's another story in another thread)

At any rate, I loved my IS-F, especially the customer service, was amazing. Lexus would do anything to keep me happy. The car was very impressive and probably a faster top end speed with the extra torque, even with the upgraded suspension in 2011 and continued upgraded wheels and further improved suspension in 2012, I cared the DCT of the M3, and had always wanted an M3, so I'll be eager to compare the two after I actually pick the car up.

Congrats on your ride! Lease or finance?

Congrats! I'm not a fan of the IS-F's rear end.Did the 8 speed auto really stumble? I also hate the fact that Lexus is a re-badged Toyota.

I'm joking for anyone that didn't catch that.

ISF is not a bad car overall, not as good as m3, would get high marks in the value for money but does not excel any any area over an M3. The worst issue with the ISF or any of the IS cars is that the interior is designed for midgets... I can not fit in any of the those cars.

+1 on the Lexus Customer Service especially in the Service Dept!! I doubt I'll get the same treatment at the local BMW Service Dept but I hope it's close. Sorry for the

I dont blame people for hating on the ISF, as I said Ive never been a fan of lexus, I really did enjoy the car though, always driving in sport manual mode.
The car is extremely fast. Looks are all personal preference, I like the M3 better though!

You clearly have not driven the car how it is supposed to be driven. Unless you have hit 8400 than you have no clue how fast the m3 is. It probably feels like a slug if you are still in break-in period but wait until you unleash the 7k-8400 power band
