Yeah, but it hasn't really stopped anyone. I think this might be more reinforced in downtown area. Anything uptown/remote will not have enough patrols to catch anyone in the act. Funny thing, I haven't ever washed my car at home...maybe my detailers but never myself.

Yup believe it or not it's illegal. Same laws are in place over here in Calgary, in the UK however (lived there my whole life up until 2 years ago) it was more because they thought we would run out of water if people continued to water their gardens and wash their cars at home

If you interpret the clean water act literally it's illegal to water your lawn in Toronto. In fact, it's illegal to water a hanging plant with a glass of water from inside your house. If it goes into the storm sewer in Toronto it's basically illegal.

Is it really possible to twist it that way, Kevin? What I was told(never read it myself), was that the chemical(soap, etc) used for washing your car cannot be washed into the sewer. If I were to just spray down my car with water, there's nothing they can actually do about it. It'd be stupid..cause, if we interpret it that way, technically I can be in trouble if it rains on my car which happens to be dirty and parked on my driveway.

The thing is brake dust, oil, undercoating etc are all considered problems, its a very vague set of laws.

If youre using automotive soap and aren't washing during water restrictions I wouldn't worry about it too much. It mostly applies to guys like me
