Am I the only one missing the 'flip' covers on the rear seat?
I had missing tools, missing glovebox flashlight, missing owner's manual, but this? I saw an '09 E92 yesterday, and it has 'flip up' covers in that area, hinged from the top, and they go down about 3/4 of the way, and they're spring-loaded. You just push them in if you want to use the anchors, and they spring back. I also wonder if I have to remove the seat to install them; I'm contemplating if I should order them or not. Curious to hear some comments, especially from '08 E92 M3 owners. Thanks.

I'm sure they'll put them in for you for free. They have to order a new piece, not just the flip portion. I know b/c one of mine broke and was covered by warranty. Before they installed it I saw the piece and it wasn't just the flip, but the actual insert. I'd get them put on... why not? Looks cleaner too.

I doubt that since selling dealer is 700 miles away, but will try my luck with local dealer. The weird thing is the car is new, there're no signs of ever being a car seat on either side, and no marks of any kind on the inserts indicating the covers were broken or removed.
Anyway, the covers cost about $55 shipped, but more than that, I want to know how involved is to remove and replace those suckers; might leave it alone if too much trouble. If other '08 E92s are like that, I might leave it alone, but don't want to be the only one . Last edited by JCtx; 06-25-2009 at 03:00 PM.. |

You should have them. The whole assembly pops out and then you pop it back in the seat once completed. I know this since one of mine got twisted up and I popped the whole thing out by accident trying to fix it.
Looks like qaulity control in the interior department was job 13 that Friday.

Yep, just went to the garage and I popped them out; you're 'da man . Will order them if dealer doesn't want to (along with the euro switch with rear fogs). By the way, each cover is $11.39 and switch $102.60 with Tischer.
Wonder what the heck happened to my car; the covers NEVER had the spring-loaded lids on them (not a single mark), so how the heck did they end up in production? Weird. Oh well, not a big deal. Thanks a lot for your help folks. |

Mine was also missing when I bought my car. I asked but no one knows what happened. I think when removing nylon covers over the seats someone should forced them to opposite side by mistake.
Anyway, I ordered one at 13 Euros and it is ok now. Also, I have 2008 E92 M3. |

The covers may be stuck up inside at the top. See if its still there.

Thanks man. I removed all 4, and there's nothing in there. All 4 covers show no signs of ever having the 'lids'. There's a rod that goes on the back of the covers, which tells me it's possible dealer needs to install the covers at PDI, but am not sure. SOMEBODY forgot to do it, that's for sure. Oh well. Local dealer didn't get back to me on that issue, so if I don't hear from them, will order them tomorrow. Unfortunately, I have to order the whole thing, when I only need those little lids, but they're not that expensive (about $60 delivered, but could do better things with that money ). Thanks you all for your help .
