I have a pair of ray ban im testing out now. I have 2 pairs of maui jims coming tomorrow. If they fit and look good I'll keep a pair and return the other. I'll try out Serengeti sunglasses this weekend when i have some time.

Military and law enforcement get them cheap. They don't meet MIL spec. I use dedicated shooting glasses when I shoot. Or let me put it this way. I use shooting glasses doing tactics, and my Maui Jim's for qualification shooting. I shoot better with the Maui jims. seems alot clearer and comfortable.
Not trying to flame you, and that's your own choice. But actually, certain Oakleys are one of the few brands that the US Army has deemed that meets ballistic standards we see in combat. But that being said, all of us have the choice, and everyone I know chooses to wear Oakleys. Says something. We're not out there plinking targets to see who's the fastest. The military puts there lives on the line, and it's not a "game"

I have quite a few Ray Bans and they are all great quality. But I also regularly wear Prada and D&G and Carrera sun glasses.

Your right, I didn't relize oakley made those lenses. I'm basing all this off my real world experience being in law enforcement. Only guys wearing the oakleys from standardissue are kids coming out of the academy. Talking to other guys, it's because they prefer the looks of other glasses over the oakley that tend to look too sporty most of the time. I specifically agree with that. I like something more sophisticated or classy looking for every day. And a pair of shooting glasses are free for us.

Not to say also that a different law enforcement agencies will be different also.

I'm partial to oakleys...the clarity of the ski goggles is astounding too.
Everytime I step into the oakley store I come out with a new pair..dammit. I just have an oakley drawer in the closet now..lol. I keep coming back to the black iridium polarized lenses because they are soothing to my eyes while driving. I even like wearing them near dusk...my eyes feel comfortable with them.

I'm also trying out some Gatorz....their is a vendor on amazon who sells Gatorz Wraptors at an insanely cheap price. $45, an insanely cheap price not to try. Granted, the frames don't have the latest logo on the side. The frames are adjustable, which is nice. I've had them about a week. In either case, they look great and I am ordering a polarized pair to check out.

If Guy Fieri wears them, I gotta try them (puke, jk).

Squat cleans, check.

Real world experience tends to differ quite a bit. I lived in a big military town and also know some of the local SWAT guys here in Austin.

The most common glasses I see worn are the military issue m-frames like these:

A bit off topic, but a friend of mine swears by those glasses. Dude is a professional badass: SWAT team, runs sub 3hour marathons, and he's 58 years old. If they're good enough for him, they're more than good enough for me.

Yea, swat guys are usually all about wearing tactical stuff. Cloths, tools, everything. They have that mentality that they could be in a situation at any moment. I'm in the opposite camp where I like to be undercover. i still have my multi tool on me and I shoot accurate, but I don't like people being able to spot me out of a crowd. I've seen some of those guys go out to a decent dinner and they are wearing their 5.11 cargo pants and a polo. Looks really tacky.

I have like 10 pair of oakley's. I never lose or break them so half of them are way out of style. I've recently decided I may be too old to pull them off anymore. Thinking of switching to Maui Jim's exclusively. I have 2 pair and love them.

I had a buddy was a transmission tech for the Brut NHRA Funny Car. He got me my custom Radars for half price. Oakley's markup is ridiculous and they give out big discounts to the people they sponsor.

Ended up with a pair of Maui Jim Freight Trains. I've tried on a bunch of them and the Freight Trains so far fit me the best. Will be trying on Wiki Wiki later to see if the slightly smaller size look better but so far I'm happy with these MJs.

Are all the higher end brands like oliver peoples actually have good lenses or are they just fashion brands?

Maybe I'm crazy, but I'd rather not be the asshole wearing a pair of Tom Fords or Oliver Peoples on the golf course.

Different sunglasses have different purposes. I'm not going to wear a pair of Oakley Radars with a suit, and I'm not going to wear a pair of wayfarers to go run. Call me lame, it doesn't bother me, but there really is a huge difference between all of these.

true, my statement was shortsighted
my answer was purely on casual/aesthetic point if view
