Video: Custom Exhaust and Catless Megan

So a few months ago I decided to have a custom bolt-on exhaust made using two Elite race mufflers with custom 3.5 inch tips. I loved this setup but I wanted to go catless in search of more POWER. I figured it would be too loud so I sold it to a friend and picked up a Megan Racing axle back with the titanium tips (which I am probably going to cut and replace with bigger tips painted black) and replaced the primaries with some test pipes. After all that, i headed down to Jeremy@OETuning to take care of the SES (increased emissions) light and get some more power.

The Megan literally has zero drone/vibrations/anything negative and I really don't understand how this is possible, especially with the primary cat delete. Anyone in the Los Angeles area feel free to pm me if you would like to hear it. While the inside is nice and cozy, it screams outside! I wish it was a bit louder so I'll probably remove the secondary cats and resonators later on.

For now, I just have a video compilation of the Elite setup and I will put up a video of the Megan within the next two days. The video was too big so I made it lower quality, but the sound is still the same. First half was taken with an iPhone and the rest with a GoPro.

(UPDATED with both videos)

I didn't put the xpipe in the 1st pic. Just the test pipes mated with my stock xpipe.

Sounds great, this is the path I'll more than likely take. Is it noticeably quicker with the primary cat delete, and did you feel a difference after getting the tune?

I just got a Megan last week, and am loving it, but am seriously considering the Remus X-Pipe or the Sosi to replace the 2nd cats and resonators. I'm not 100% on replacing the primary cats.

I have the borla x-pipe which comes with 4 resonators and then the Megan axle-back... IT sounds great... only problem is the smell.

No, just a primary cat delete. I have my stock secondary cats, xpipe, and resonators in place. Thanks!

Love the sound of the Megan and Turner combo. Looking to go catless from an OEM exhaust mod alone (bypass method). Have you heard that in person? If so how does it compare? How much rasp do you have? In the video, there seems to be almost none. And it's a deeper tone that I prefer too. Thanks!

A friend of mine had the stock muffler paired with the gintani catless xpipe for a day, and that sounded like shit between shifts (DCT) but not bad when it was being floored. My setup doesn't have any rasp. If you go the bypass method, you are basically straight-piping it and if you delete your primaries it will be LOUD. If you don't mind loud, then go ahead and do it. I think by leaving the secondary cats in was a good idea since there isn't that much of a smell compared to fully catless- if you care about that shit.

Do it and post some videos!

If I went catless, the OEM exhaust modded muffler would have to go for sure. It's already pretty loud as it is, and the rest of my setup is completely stock. And I've also heard M3's with straight pipes (on Youtube) and not a big fan at all. Too loud and too raspy.

The only other good setup that I've heard was full catless with Borla exhaust. But I think I'm going to go with what you did. Thanks!

LOL, I noticed that too...but we live in Cali..those are called Cali. pit stops.

I have the TTPs along with the Megan, it sounds great and gets better with age. I've had the Megan now for over 1.5yrs. and it sounds even better once some of the sound absorption material gets batted down in the muffler.
