Megan exhaust...another one

I kept flipping back and forth between the oem exhaust mod and the Megan. Well i ended up getting the Megan. It was a bit of a pain to fit. A few pieces of mounting hardware were missing and fitting it was not so great. After playing with it for a while i got almost perfect but the left side hung a couple mm lower and the right side was not centered in the bumper cutout.

I could not stand the imperfection.

The car is now at Welding Works getting custom fitted... I am typing this as I am waiting....I will let you know how it turns out.

On another note. Sound wise, it sounds great! very little drone. very easy on the ears at highway speed. louder and deeper down low and a slightly amplified exotic note of the original engine sound up high.

The actual build of the exhaust is damn good for the money. And it seems to weigh about 37lbs which is much lighter than the OEM which i think is 55lbs. I wish the tips didn't have the Megan logo but it still looks much better than the OEM tips.

I will update this once it's finished from Welding Works.

How loud would you say it is compared to the OEM exhaust mod(perforated)? Would you call it a ticket magnet?

Okay so im back! Welding Works in Orange, CA is the shit! If you guys want any custom welding jobs they are the guys. They noticed that my entire install was wrong (done by Bullet Performance)

They reinstalled my exhaust and automatically if fit much better. However there was still a deviation of about 4mm in height between the two tips. So the cut off the right elbow and tip and dropped it to match the left side. They also noticed that the slip on clamps were pretty crappy so they added a few tig welds at those joints.

My car sounds even better. The drone is almost 100% gone! Im guessing that the poor installed and loose connections at the clamps caused more resonance than expected. My car sounds exotic and has more grunt down low. Its pretty damn amazing what you get for $550. ALl in all, I spent $550 for the exhaust, $180 to Bullet Performance (for nothing), and $75 at Welding Works to install and correct all the flaws. Not bad. I wouldn't trade this exhaust for anything else.

I will try to post a video but honesty from all the videos that I have seen/heard online...it doesn't sound the same! You have to hear it in person. Its much more refined that you would expect from a $600 exhaust.

I am a big fan of this Megan exhaust and I have heard the Akro Evo, and the Akro slip on. To me its sounds just as good or better.

No way is this a ticket magnet. It will cause some heads to turn but it really sounds like the natural engine sound amplified. Its adds a little grunt down low and higher up sounds exotic.

This exhaust is perfect. It took me a long ass time deciding on an exhaust because I am afraid of drone, boomyness and my neighborhood is very quiet. My wife would kill me if the neighbors complained about my exhaust.

i would think that the acm oem exhaust is louder since that is a straight pipe. the perf oem mod is probably louder also.

i did grow a set but they have been ripped off before. my new pair are just starting to drop and they are too precious to be ripped of like my last pair.

I like my Megan too. A buddy of mine whos a BMW tech installed mine in about an hour and didn't report any issues. Fitment was fine, but im probably not as picky as you. I've heard about missing parts.

The first installer didnt seat the left connecting pipes fully, which left a bit of a leak and cause the tips to extend a few mm further than the right side. Also the clamps were not that secure so welding works recommended a few tig welds to hold it in place.

Love my Megan I had no issues during install...missing part's? What could be missing...did you buy new?
A lot of people knock the Megan just because of the price, but it rocks.

No they just get pulled over and questioned. Once you tell them it's a v8 and stock they usually leave you alone....or give you a ticket for something like tints or no front plate.
