2008 m3 purchase what to look for?

Hey folks,

I come from the e82 world and I've been itching to get into an e92 m3 for the past few months. I am going to test drive a 2008 (link below) and I was wondering what I should be looking out for engine wise/mechanically/electronically. I know the rod bearings were an issue in some of these cars and I wanted to get an idea of what I should look for. Also, being that there is an aftermarket tire/wheel combo on the car could I finesse a grand or two of wiggle room? Thanks in advance for all replies!

Garage List
Car looks clean. I would ask about the tow hook cover though...

Thanks! I'm kind of iffy about the wheels as well. Any insight?

Ask the dealership if they would allow you to do a Pre-Purchase Inspection with an independent BMW specialist. During the PPI make sure to check for prior paint/bodywork, overall condition, and a A/C refrigerant leak test. Refrigerant leak most likely means a new Evaporator which is a costly job.

Good call on the AC evaporator.

How to test if there is problem in Evaporator? is there a good way to test it?

An A/C technician will have a tool to sniff for any leaking refrigerant coming out the A/C vents or under the dash.
