I owned a G35 coupe before, and now I own a M3...
I guess that makes me the biggest douchebag ever..

But really, I AM THE BIGGEST DOUCHEBAG.
I go around trying to race every nice car I see, including GT-R, C63 AMG, Ferrari 458 italia, etc.

I just don't understand why they wouldn't race me

This is kind of surprising hearing this because I have a 335 with the performace exhaust and my car is veryy loud. And everytime I pass a kid driving the 35/37 I pretty much always make it known either by downshifting or getting really close to them that I want to race (just to put them in their place.) And they never step up to the occasion, they always act shook because they hear the exhaust and they automatically assume they have no chance lol. When I dp and jb3 soon they will really have no chance.

Edit: Just to add, I have had my car for a little more then a year now, and literally almost every other day people in 335's try to race me. Only tiime I lost was to the jb3's!

A little off topic, but I am very sad that they made the G25. I really was a fan of the 37's. I don't think they should have offered the smaller motor. Soon they will be racing people!

I've seen complaints like this one - about G35/G37 drivers - now and then for years, but never really understood. I figured it was just a West Coast thing or something.

Well, yesterday, I had my first ever G37 douche-attack.

I was driving in my normal manner, which is to say quickly and enthusiasticly, but I was not bothering anyone nor doing anything disrespectful. There's a stretch of expressway on my commute home where I like to hammer it real hard as soon as I come off the entrance ramp. Now mind you there's usually some other cars in front of me on that ramp so I have to get over to the fast lane as I come off the ramp in order to try to get a clear shot. I always signal when I do this (and any other time I change lanes for that matter), and I never attempt to overtake anyone in front of me that either signals to get over as well, or even makes any movement that could be construed as them preparing to get over ahead of me without properly signaling first. In other words, I give people ample space and time to do what I like to do too if they wish (for whatever reason, I rarely see anyone else get over right away though).

So I did my normal routine - got a clear lane, floored it, and ran it up to 85-90 and let off. But then a couple seconds later I look in my rearview and there's this G37 sedan right on my rear bumper. Now, that sort of behavior - following too close or trying to race or whatever - isn't too rare for me to see, and even though it can be unnerving or annoying, I tend to blow it off (while keeping a close eye to make sure the guy is not going to do anything stupid). After all, sometimes people just want to have a little fun and I give them the benefit of the doubt.

Next, we come up on a slower car so I signal and pass. The G37 stays behind the slower car and slows down, and I leave them behind a few car lengths. A few more seconds go by and then I see the G37 shoot out of its lane and go around the slower car without signaling. Then I notice he is in a huge hurry all of the sudden (gee, I wonder why?), so I signal to get back to the right lane, and the guy quickly jumps into the right lane, again without signaling, and nearly side swipes me as he goes around me, using the right shoulder partially to avoid hitting me. He must have been going 120-130mph easily, and kept on accelerating from there until he nailed his brakes to avoid hitting some heavier traffic ahead.

So apparently his ego got the best of him and he had to prove his manliness. Due to all of the traffic ahead, I eventually caught up. He had now gotten to the right (to exit I assume) and I look over - laughing at his sheer stupidity (can't help myself) - and of course he has this sheepish look on his face. He made a hand motion, and I couldn't tell if it was a middle finger or a wave. But at that point I am thinkng neither one was appropriate since time had long passed for a friendly wave, and if anyone should be flipping the bird it is me.

I'm sure the guy would probably be a dick no matter what he drives, but I have to say that - aside from some similar attacks from guys in pickup trucks and the like - I've never seen anything quite like this one.

Seriously though..

I usually give people what they want.

I'm not trying to prove anything to them,
but every time I see a douchebag trying to race me,
regardless of what car he is driving, I usually downshift and gun it.

Personal experience, I get these N54 owners (335i, 335xi, 135i) with "probably" JB tune trying to race me all the time..

So I'm a firm believer that 335i with JB3 must be the best car built EVER.

And i would love to own one as a winterbeater
(just kidding, 335i owners )

I had one of the G tards loaded with aftermarket parts way up on my rear when I was going to pick up a friend at the airport. When traffic cleared up enough he moved 2 lanes to the right and we both stomped it. It was a complete tie until he got picked off on slower traffic, but since he saw I was driving a 335d, I imagine his ego was crushed. Go buy more aftermarket parts because you couldn't pwn a girl in a diesel, racer boy.

Never ever in my life I saw anyone drive with a helmet on public roads
Lol he must of look stupid.

But seriously, i just try to ignore them. I live in an area loaded with Infiniti, subaru, mitsubishi etc. Some are modded and would easily beat me, but I'm not trying to prove anything. My car would be permanently impounded (a definite possibility im NY), if I street raced 50 percent of those cars that come up to me.

I beg to differ. I run into them no matter where in LA county or city that I'm in. For the most part I ignore them, but I can't say that I that I haven't given into temptation a few times. The one thing I will say is that I have yet to run into a douchebag 350 or 370 driver.

I used to own an '05 G35 coupe with some minor mods that I loved. I never raced or revved anyone, although I did have a big diesel truck and a Z06 rev me (laugh). There was one point I considered building up the car to the level of performance of an e46 M3, but that only lasted a week or so, and it would have been for the fun of meeting a goal via tuning. It was a pretty decent car for what I could afford at the time.

I never get anyone trying to race me in the M3, but then again, I'm not really paying too much attention. I'm way too busy enjoy my car for myself.

There seems to be drivers of both types in all sorts of performance cars. Some wanna be douche-bags and look to race. Others like to check out a nice car and give the thumbs up. I get along quite well with the latter....

Sad to say in the next 6-12 months I may have to sell the car for financial reasons due to a change in circumstances. A G37 would be one of my considerations as a replacement.
