In TX, if you are granted Defensive Driving, you take the course, submit a copy of the completion cert. to the DMV along with a paid official copy of your driving record, and the ticket is dismissed. Glad I live here and not FL. I had a ticket not too long ago, and took DD for it. I recently switched insurance companies (last month) and they asked me if I had any tickets or accidents in the past 3 years. Answered no and yes, respectively. They pulled my record and no ticket The fact that I got the ticket traveling through Louisiana and it was still dismissed means that TX isn't the only state that recognizes this.

Even promoted on TX's DMV site:

How can I get a TX traffic ticket dismissed?

In some cases, you can get a traffic ticket dismissed by passing a driving safety course. You must request permission from the county court to go this route, and then complete a state-approved course (online, in person or at home with a DVD). If you hold a Texas CDL or your speeding ticket was for traveling faster than 25 mph over the posted speed limit, taking the course to dismiss a ticket is NOT an option. To learn more, check out our page on point reduction and traffic ticket dismissal.
So that means I can legally do 119mph on the toll road (speed limit is 85mph) and if I get caught, I can take DD and that'll go away
Nice! That's good to know. What if you get caught doing 119 mph on a 85 zone and don't have a front license plate?

*lol* no front plate isn't a points violation in Texas, so you just pay the fine and move on with your life. You are still eligible for DD for the speeding violation. Even though you can take a DD class annually to lower your rates, the recommended course of action for those of us who drive a little bit faster than most is to hold on to that and use it to dismiss a points-centric moving violation. Key thing to remember is that you can only take DD to dismiss a ticket ONCE A YEAR, and I don't mean calendar year. If you get popped and you go to court and ask for DD, the first thing they ask is if you've had DD in the past year. If you say yes, no DD for you

Yup, been there, done that. Plus if you can't take dd, there is always deferred disposition.

It's getting harder and harder to get deferred adjudication, as it isn't as lucrative as DD, unfortunately.

I have been very happy with Liberty Mutual rates and service.
I take advantage of the BMW affinity program.

It's crazy how quotes vary like that. LM is the lowest for me so far, lower than GEICO.

If that's the case, I say go for it. They offer BMW performance insurance, which sounds nice, but not at $240/mo.

My friend used to be a Actuarial Scientist at Progressive and he told me that their company loves people with bad credit and non-educated people that fall for their stupid commercials. That is why they charge 30% more.

I have also dealt with Progressive insurance agents when I had to file 2 different insurance claims when someone else hit me. the estimate was $2200 and $4400 for two different incidents and the progressive agents offered me $1200 and $2200.

I realized they hate educated people and were very curt and rude because I know the lost their bonus or commission because the had to pay me the full amount...

Avoid Progressive. I have liberty mutual, no problems yet..

For me it is good that LM has a partnership with BMW and are using OEM parts (if they are really somewhat affiliated). I'll take advantage of it since I really care for my car so I'd definitely will use non other than the recommended parts.

Try other companies offering comprehensive insurance, you might get another quote lower than what you have is offering.

I signed up for it. For $47/month comp coverage with BMW OEM parts I am not concerned about lowering premium nor do I think I will find anything lower unless I go with a pos company.
