France... shopping suggestions?

ill be in France next week for a couple of days and i was wondering if anyone knew of a good place to get sneakers most preferably sb dunks

Its a crappy time to buy if you American.. Especially with the weak dollar. It would be cheaper to get them locally if you can.

+1 The Dunks there will be like 50%+ more expensive so save your shoe allowance when you get there. If you like urban shoes and clothes head to Tokyo (and yeah it's still expensive...so it's a "lose lose" situation).

Though, I think that the French should make an effort to act more kindly toward Americans, considering we saved Paris from being invaded by the Germans in WWI, who were only 40 miles away from capturing the city.

Oh well.

The Americans weren't in WWI until late in the conflict by which time the French Army and the British Expeditionary Force had halted the German advance north and east of Paris. American's can't even claim to have liberated Paris in WWII; the Free French Army under Gen. Charles de Gaulle entered first.

As for shopping in France, I wouldn't spend a single Euro in that country.

The French Army and British EF did not hault the German advance alone. The reason they were able to stop them is because of the "fresh" American troops. It was here that the Americans haulted the German drive toward Paris at Chateau-Thierry. They did this by regaining Belleau Wood and Vaux.

A very famous quote from WWI pertaining to this situation comes from General Robert L. Bullard: "The marines didn't 'win the war' here, but they saved the allies from defeat."

But, the Americans WERE fighting WITH the French. When America intially entered the war, American soldiers routinely fought under French command.

I think Americans should remember that we would probably not have July 4th as a holiday if not for French intervention. We were paying a debt in 1918. "La Fayette, we are here."
