BMW mechanic crashes M4

It's why with any sports car i would ask to ride in the car if the mechanic needs to drive it or install a dashboard camera and let them know it's recording.

It's from last year, sorry for the repost.

I know this is from last year, but I ALWAYS photograph my mileage before leaving my car at the dealer, and get a signature from the SA on the request order as well...

You guys Demanding you ride with the service tech? signatures on the work order? Dash cams even? Don't perpetuate the "BMW owners are all pompous asses" myth. it's just a car. 99% of service techs drive them everyday or even own one of their own and typically don't feel the need to abuse yours.

There are only a couple of senior techs that test drive these cars.
I have no reservation with allowing them that access.

Besides, this car was a dealer demo; so I'm guessing there's a mechanic looking for work at a nearby Audi dealership....

I encourage them to take my car out for a drive. If they crash it, they buy me a new car

driving typical BMWs everyday is not the same as driving an M3, and I didn't know BMW mechanics are so well paid they all own M3s. Not at all, fact is, the chance of them joyriding your M3 if they get a chance is high. There's been plenty reports of curbed wheels, excessive miles (a common occurence), idrive brake pads estimated maintenance date radically changed after a mechanic 'testdrive' and only a small proportion of owners actually notice or report these abuses. BMW centered its advertising of our car around the Joy of the ride ride lmaol. You bet it will get floored if they think no one will know.

Yes there's always that friendly mechanic who is a performance car enthusiast who you will trust more than yourself at the wheel but let's be realistic that's an outlier not your typical mechanic.

welp... audi mechanics have the tendency to snort coke during test drive.

Senior techs, the ones that do the test drives are definitely capable of affording M3's... Especially with the discount BMW employees get. I think you'd be surprised.

When I arrive - the SA's always ask, "is it still supercharged??"

You're damn right I keep tabs on the mileage and who the hell drives the car...

Keep it moving folks...nothing to see here...
In reality, this photo is simply BMW test technicians simulating real life issues that BMW drivers face...we wanted to simulate different driving conditions such as distractions when a attractive female walks by with revealing clothing, or your girlfriend sends you that nude pic that you've been begging for, or you get that insatiable urge to text while driving...
