Ohlins R&T compression under load (pics)

static height

under braking and cornering

pics taken on same day. Ohlins R&T stock springs 60nm front 120nm rear.

Just FYI, was pretty shocked when I saw my front lip almost scraping the track, I thought I was already set pretty high

The supplied rates are relatively soft, there's certainly room to move up in spring rate while maintaining a reasonable amount of compliance for track use. It's important to move up by a small enough increment that the dampers can be adjusted in stiffness to suit the new higher rate springs.

I'm already running the dampers at almost full hard.

The tricky part is finding aftermarket springs that for directly without custom adaptors.

Hypercoil springs seem reasonably priced but don't seem to be a direct fit with my vorshlag camber plates and OE style upper mounts.

But I would like to try 500F 800R springs.

Tks bro. Worth mentioning that if I had to make the purchase again I would go for the APR GT250 instead of GTC300 that I have. I just don't really like the 3D design. Also pls don't get anything bigger than 61" it will just get ridiculous.

Doesn't Ohlins directly supply springs? I recall when I had DFV's for my evo their springs are made by Eibach. I know the front M3 spring have a taper though. Maybe Ohlins has different spring rates available?

Your aero is contributing to an exra downforce. Maybe too much for stock Ohlins springs. I saw m3 owner at the shop the other day, where we installed ohlins on my car, he was complaining abour soft ohlins springs also. He said under heavy braking, his rear end starts to wiggle a little bit. He had the same aero as i see on your car.
He also had ess 625 SC, which adds about 80 pound to the front. Are you supercharged?
When i suggested to replace supplied springs with stiffer ones, he said he spent 20 minutes talking to Ohlins rep., and they didnt recommend going that route, as, according to them, stiffer than supplied springs would shorten dampers life significantly. Then he said he will try changing front roll bar to stiffer one. I am not sure thats the right thing to do.
What settings do yo use for the track front/rear?
Also, what is your ride hight?

With the Ohlins when you adjust ride height by shortening the strut you are not shortening the travel. I think this may be an issue when you lower the car lower than their recommended settings. I have my car at an extremely conservative ride height in the front and I am rubbing the inside of my bumper.

Are you rubbing paint off your bumper and fenders?

No I'm not supercharged and there's at least a one finger gap front and rear. So car is set much higher than many other examples that I see photos of on this forum.

Looks like the only option for springs upgrade is the swift springs conversion from HP AUTO.

I'm not keen to change to KW Clubsports because of the front clearance issues. If I have to modify that kit to fit I might as well modify my Ohlins instead.

No I do not have any rubbing issues with bumper/ fender.

It think that maybe you need to check your wheel/tire setup? Is it too aggressive?

Maybe you should talk to Ohlins directly before replacing springs for higher rate.
