Yeah Budd's BMW used to top up mine for free since I bought the car there, but apparently they will no longer do so either. Good news is that as I put more miles on the car it seems to burn less oil.. in the beginning I was going through a litre every 5000km.

I experienced the same thing - mine doesnt seem to require a top up that often. I just buy a few extra quarts to have around. The last time I asked at Budds they did even though they noted that they no longer do that, but that was a while ago.

It's totally at the dealer's discretion. Even under the Maintenance Plan oil is considered a consumable, like gas, so is not covered. Dealers, like so many businesses these days (flown lately?) are watching their margins.

Too funny, same thing happened to me today at BMW Toronto. At first they tried to charge me but I bitched to the service manager and he gave me a freebie. The worst part was the BS line about how 'they have always only provided free oil top ups for the first year after purchase for M cars'. When I told him I was just there in the summer and they topped me up no questions asked he changed his story fairly fast. Will have to try Parkview next time I need oil.

Yep but you never know if they are consistent from one to other. In general I've found Parkview better to deal with service wise even after BMW Toronto became a Quinn dealership.

I have the same issue on my c63, and every dealer except Thornhill mb has topped me up no problem. Maple has the pipe in the service bay. And all mb's use 5w40. Amg used to 0w40, but that has changed.

Thought I should update with the latest on oil top-ups, pulled into BMW Toronto last week fully expecting to pay for a litre of oil... and was nicely surprised when the kid in the drive in bay put a litre in at no charge. No complaints but odd that they have been so inconsistent.

As Far as I was told, Parkview in Toronto and Waterloo BMW are the same ownership.

I never liked Autohaus to begin with from Sales to Service. If you want respect and both then go to Park View. They are the best! They are giving me Carpet Mats as well as Rubber Mats not to mention a gift certificate that can be used at the dealership.

My A3 2.0, A4 2.0 and current M all burn oil. I usually carry a bottle in the trunk and top it myself. Its definately a little bit of a hassle but no biggie.
