Quote from Ziebart. Is that normal? Does it worth it?
Hi,
I have recently purchased a 2011 M3. I love the paint ( LeMans Blue) and I really want to keep it in good condition. After my quick research I found out that Ziebart's 'Diamond Gloss' paint protection is pretty good, owners say it shines like new for at least a year, and they renew it every year for $100. Also, I believe tinted windows go great with the color, and clear bra looks like a necessity too. So, the quote from Ziebart was $1020 for Interior-Exterior detailing + Diamond Gloss paint protection + Clear bra + Tinted windows. How does that sound? thank you |

what type of tint are they using? metal free? Ceramic?
What type of clear bra film also? What sorta of steps in detailing: Claying, polishing, waxing, sealing? |

Hmmm... On their detailing page, there are no details on what they exactly do. All it says is that they hand wash to remove dirt and toxins, then machine polish, then apply paint protection.
From what I have seen, most professional detailers will tell you the number of steps involved, like how many polishing steps, whether they clay or not, etc. This site doesn't tell you all that much. I'd probably have to go there and see for myself what they actually do before I'd let them touch my car.

Congrats on your choice of the best color option (IMO), but, I am biased....
What is the current condition of the paint? Not familiar with Ziebart's. If my assumptions are right, seems a little pricey. Sounds like it's a wash and detail that includes an application of a sealant and possibly wax. You can do this yourself. May want to consider Chemical Guys products. Tint: must have ceramic to avoid messing with navigation and radio. Best of luck. Quote:

Sounds like a great price.
Tint alone can run $160, clearbra could be anywhere from $400-$800, and a detail, well that is easily a 150-300 dollar affair. I'm not sure why people think the price is high... |

A very good detailing can run much more than $300, especially if they are trying to get it into a pristine condition for clear bra application. Also, what exactly are they putting the clear bra on? Just the hood and bumper? From what I have read, a clear bra can be very pricey if the whole car is covered. I guess I'm just skeptical on what their "full professional detailing" is when they don't even describe the steps involved. For example, Auto Finesse's page goes into great detail on what is done (and as you can see, a full 2-4 step paint correction detail is not cheap): http://www.autofinesse.us/treatments/

I saw some cars that they worked on, they looked quite impressive. I will go for it, although I'm not sure about the clear bra. I don't want a line in my hood, and they say the 'Diamond Gloss' alrady protects against bugs; so my only problem will be rock chips, which can be prevented by staying away from trucks I guess.
lorinzo: The paint's condition looks very good to me, althogh I saw some brush marks on the car under very specific lighting conditions.. And yes, lemans blue is awesome Ziebart is an international german company, and I heard good things about them. Thank you guys, for your replies. Last edited by Cortexiphan; 07-05-2012 at 09:23 AM..
