Help Please

Hi guys i need help please from the helpful people on here. Last night i went out in my 2010 e92 M3 never had much fuel so i was going to go and get some but i ran out not far away. So walked to fuel station and brought some fuel to just get me to there to fill her up. Got back to fill her up with abit of fuel and started her up to than drive to the fuel station but the engine management light was on. What dose this mean ? anyway can reset this by going into the car computer if so any more information on this. Really would be helpful if someone knows how i can get this light off. The car drives the same before and everything. Cheers

I am actually not a very helpful person but I will see if I can help you. My guess is that at some point during this event you probably left a fuel cap open, which will then start the engine light.

I am not aware of any way to reset this without going to the dealership. I remember my SA telling me to be careful not to drive with the fuel cap open, as it will necessitate a trip to the dealership to reset.

Maybe another helpful member of this forum knows the way to reset diy. I apologize for unhelpful help. Thanks.

If the light came on due to a lose fuel cap, I knoe on many other makes of cars, the light will reset after about 10 restarts as long as the fuel cap has been tightened down. But maybe BMW's are different.
