Wheel and tire sizing advice
Alright guys, i've always purchased OEM wheels for my BMWs in the past but this time im looking hard at the apex group buy for the ARC8s in 19s. Their other styles aren't doing it for me so the ARC8 it is. Thought about ZCPs but used sets almost always have nicks and I have to pay for shipping/PP and sometimes switch to the 08/09 TPMS. ARC8s will be new and good offsets to fit the car nicely, not to mention strength and lightness.
Wheel sizing: 19x9.5 et22 19x10.5 et22 OR 19x8.5 et20 19x9.5 et22 Car is street driven (and not a tq monster) so i don't see the need for super sized rubber. Would i regret going with the smaller widths? Apex says 265/30 and 285/30 are typical for the larger widths, but you can't get PSS in a 285/30/19 from tirerack. What have you guys been getting? Thoughts?

If you go with the narrower setup, you're still going to want to invest in spacers for the rear and possibly a smaller one in the front.
If you're not a track rat, why not get the wider set up and wider rubber? You'll lose a little steering feel (may not even be noticeable. I just learned about this today and have had a 255/275 set up for almost a year LOL), but the offsets are much better than the narrower set.

I think a 255/275 PSS setup on 9.5 and 10.5 wheels is what im going to shoot for then.

Currently running 265/285 Michelin PSS and I regret it. PSS tires have wide shoulders and if I was rubbing with an offset of 25, 22 youll def lose some drivability. And 10.5" with a 22 offset is agressive, the outer edge of the wheel will be sitting almost where your stock wheel would sit with an 18mm spacer... Your setup will look great without spacers. And you'll have less to worry about if you ever want to drop the car Edit: For a smoother ride, to fill the wheel well, more traction off the line, and for some protection of your wheels shoot for a 35% series tire. I'd only go 30℅ on the sidewalls if you go 285 in the rear. Of course this is just my opinion, based on my experiences so far. I'm still tweaking my setup myself to find that ideal balance between performance and driveability... Last edited by DKX4///M; 02-24-2015 at 09:19 PM.. |
