The Aston is non of those. It's front engine, decently low, and comparably wide to other cars of its type. And it blends in while also standing out, which you cannot say about the R8 (which stands out everywhere).

What kind of person are you?
What age are you (i'm not asking, just something for you to think about).
What's your personal and business situation like?

It will seem a lot more showy if you pull up somewhere with an R8, whereas an Aston will be more understated (although not the GT version with the bright colors, etc.).

Questions I wish I someone could have asked me about before I got the R8:
  • Do you mind all kinds of people pointing at you when you drive down the road?
  • Do you mind when every person you're next to at a stop light asks you to roll down the window so they can ask you to "trade cars" with them?
  • Do you mind being approached EVERY TIME you stop to get gas?
  • Do you mind having a comically sized trunk and not much storage at all behind the front seats?
  • Would the car attract too much attention (in a negative way) where you live?

If you compare the R8 to the AM in terms of looks, it's completely subjective. I prefer the R8.

My father owned the Vantage V8 I spoke previously about, and he upgraded to a DB-S, which I think is one of the most beautiful cars I have ever seen.
well I want something different i don't want to drive a car i am going to see more than 3 times every time i go somewhere. I'm 24 I have a major in finance and i'm very business business minded. I only go to tracks once or twice a year. normally i drive from home to work to happy hr and back home.

Questions I wish I someone could have asked me about before I got the R8:
[*]Do you mind all kinds of people pointing at you when you drive down the road?
don't mind at all
[*]Do you mind when every person you're next to at a stop light asks you to roll down the window so they can ask you to "trade cars" with them?
hopefully they are driving something nicer!
[*]Do you mind being approached EVERY TIME you stop to get gas?
as long am not in Hialeah jk
[*]Do you mind having a comically sized trunk and not much storage at all behind the front seats?
no need for a trunk

nobody has mention buying a used ferrari or lambo why is that? you can find a good f430 or gallardo for the same price of a r8 v10.

Probably because either the maintenance costs are too high or people don't actually know anything about 2nd hand ownership of one of those cars (I don't).

I've always liked the early 90's Ferrari Testarossa's... I've found some dip into the 30g's area.. I'd like one of those bad boys.

Final (unsolicited) thought. It would make me very nervous to be buying any of the cars on your list if I had to finance it and could only put $20K down. It's your money and all, but these are toys and IMO should be paid out of the toy fund, not be an ongoing financial commitment.
Everyone will do what they will with their money. It is theirs after all. However...

I totally agree. Why someone would consider a $70+ K car if they can only afford $20k down is beyond me. I know we all want to have fun, but there is a time and a place in life when buying a "toy" car is reasonable. IMHO, when leasing or only putting $20k down due to financial limitations, that is definitely NOT the time.

Also, IMHO the words "lease" and "Lamborghini," "Ferrari," etc do not belong in the same sentence. Time and place. Lol.

Because they are F*CKING expensive and unreasonable for consideration with a budget of $20k down! Beyond initial purchase costs, look into maintaining them... and filling their seemingly always empty gas tanks... and... and... and...

Again, IMHO...

Used Gallardo. Maintenance is not bad at all.

Very daily drivable. Most daily driven exotic, actually.

dude I got a quote for $100 for a map sensor and the same for that plastic intake tube that connects the grill with the airbox. And that's for a mere M3. I don't even want to think what the price will.be for a similar part on a lambo.

I respect your opinion. so I am assuming you buy all your cars cash, that is great hopefully one day i can afford to do that. But i don't think you know my financial situation. Is not that i can't put more money down i said 20k because is a good downpayment for a 100k car to get the payments i want.

I asked a simple question for suggestion and advice on cars. Leasing is an option because there are some good deals out there like the jag for around 1200 or a base vantage for around 1500 and that's no money down.

I rather put 20k on a car and 80k re invest it in working capital or invest in small upcoming companies.

obviously i have no idea of the used exotic market that is the reason am asking. I'm sure maintenance might be more expensive but im sure people still buy them. what happens with all the used exotics where do they end up?

if you ever look into used exotics. you will find that most of them are low miles. because these cars are not daily driven often, and people get rid of them for multiple reasons. high maintenance is one of them, and out of warranty cost are just plan dumb. plus they are not the most reliable cars. i wouldn't get one unless i was buying new and i was very rich. people who buy these cars cheaper and used with barely being able to afford them. are "flash and trash" type of people. i drive a 75k M3, and my life style would show this. owning a Lamborghini people will think you are super rich. is all i am saying.

for me i think getting something like a used V10 R8, is better than getting a used gallardo, because you are going to get more out of the car. its still has a exotic look, and a V10 engine in the back. although it doesn't hold up to the Lamborghini name. its also nice to be able to pull into your local Audi dealership for repairs/help. more practical car

I honestly wouldn't/don't mind paying for an expensive fix on something expensive. It comes with the territory. It would probably piss me off to have to fix a piece of shit car. My logic is backwards, i suppose.

But anyway, the G is pretty reliable as I said. Lots of owners drive them daily.I can't say the same for Ferrari's.

I recently went through the same process. Similar budget in the Los Angeles area.

1. m3 lease is over 6/2014
2. I cross shopped. r8 V8, 991s, Jag f-type, and new m3/m4, Maserati gran turismo
3. It needed to be a daily. blue tooth, functional stereo, navi, some creature comforts
4. some what reasonable for maintence. (dealer needed to be close enough)

my "dream" was the v10 r8. after weeks of searching, the used car market unless u get a "old high milage" cannot be had under 1500 a month, even with a 20k down.

with a lease, the only cars that are possible are the 991s, ftype, and m3/m4
if you include used cars on a purchase, then v8 vantage comes into play and the v8 r8 comes into play.

I ended up with the 991s. I will miss my m3 greatly as its 90% the performance as the Porsche with a lot more practicality and better price.
At 1500 you can lease a brand new 991s or get a used one with CPO and still be under. This also gives you reasonable driving miles allowance.

the v8 r8 was great to drive but not much faster than the m3. It will not have a warranty at that price point, and I wasn't a fan of the rtronic coming from a DCT. the older r8s had an older multimedia interface also.

the gran turismo was a little to large and heavy for me. the f-type while looking good, just didn't excite me on the drive.

as for used exotics, 1500 a month just doesn't seem to be enough. 2000 a month can land you something decent, for an f430 or even Gallardo it will be an early 200x model without much creature comforts. reliability and possible headache. Vantage, has the same problems as above, but I only drove an 2002.

what you are affording is a $101,000 car plus sales tax of 8% (or whatever it is) to get to 110,000 a year.
$110,000 minus $20,000 = 90,000
90,000 loan x 5 yrs x 2.5% interest payments are 1597 a month.

fk

One of my friends had one. He spent over 15 grand on maintenance in the 9 months he had it. The e-gear mechanism broke. The mirror actuators broke The wheels needed replacing. The MAP sensor needed replacing, too. Every single thing on this list cost him between 1k and 6k to fix.

Low mileage? check
50k warranty left? check
Most likely able to fit OP's monthly price point? check
...and most importantly....V10 and 6MT? check and check

I'd look into this.
