Clutch hose to slave cylinder failure
I literally just got my 2009 e90 off the truck and after going for a spirited, yet responsible test drive, my clutch pedal sinks and stays on the floor. I get it towed to a well known indy shop here in the Seattle area and am told the clutch hose that connects to the slave cylinder failed. The service advisor was a bit confused as the hose looks to have made contact to the exhaust which caused it to literally melt somewhat.
Some background, I purchased the M3 from a BMW dealership in Wichita KS. The owner has been getting the car serviced there and the records have been pretty solid. There were two occasions where the AC evaporator was checked out and eventually replaced, and another time where the Throttle actuator was serviced/repaired. I did a search and saw replacement of the AC evaporator requires removal of dash to get to the parts. Would it be possible that the clutch hose was moved around in the wrong way during this replacement? Anyone else had issues with the clutch hose? |

You said it was on a truck... Like a transport truck? Flatbed? Could be the cause of the damage if they used a j-hook or something similar that may have stretched or dislodged the hose...

First I have seen about the clutch hose being melted... Don't think its a common problem... In my business I see a lot of cars that come into our business with transport damage that is similar to this... Usually it is abs/brake lines ripped or stretched loose.. Cause is from the transporter using an improper area of the car to tie it down and strap it with various types of hooks...
