Some motor noise in the cabin after engine is on
i am on e90 M3 2009 model...
after the engine is cranked... 10 to 20 seconds later there is a motor noise (sounds like mirror tilt motor in action) in the cabin. seems to come from the left hand side of dash area but not sure due to aural dimension at play (i am on right hand drive version). anyone knows where this motor like noise come from? something is initialising it seems |

When the engine is cold an air pump will start under the hood and run for about 30 seconds. It turns off and then never comes back on again while the motor is warm. It's to help reduce emissions. For me it sounds like a jet taking off.
As to the vents, when the car is cold, the car automatically directs the airflow to the floor instead of your face, until the heat comes up, and then it reverts back to the dash vents. It's purely for your comfort on a cold day. |
