I-Pod users????

How many of you use your I-Pod in your new e90 Beemers? I recived an I-Pod 60 gig video from Santa and all I can say is WOOOW. What a cool gizmo. And the best part is I can use it in the new Beemer. I wish my m3 had that port.!!!!!

I certainly use mine all the time. It was a pain being in the centre console until I got an Air Clicker from Griffin Tech and put that in the ashtray for easy access. So now I am wired for sound... that is until BMW get their act into gear and release a proper iPod interface that interacts with iDrive/the Radio.

Sound quality is certainly good, and orders of magnitude better than the Air Tunes FM transmitter.

You can get a BMW iPod integration kit for the E46, which is better than what they offer in the E90, only problem is $$ vs having it for free like in the E90

I live off my iPod. No commercials...only the music I like....and I have 3,000 songs and counting! I'm so happy that the car came with the Aux port.

I couldn't agree more. I call my iPod "Jamie FM" because on shuffle it is like my own personal radio station playing every song that I love! Only got 1/3 of my CD collection to finish importing - up to song 7055.

The radio used to be how I found new music, but there are otherways to do that now like the iTunes Music Store...

Yeah and it is thanks to this forum that I found about it - there was a DIY post on how to paint the clicker black. I just hide mine in the ashtray.

I am so glad I got it because it makes it much safer and far easier to use the iPod on the go, because unless you are a contortionist, getting into that centre console while driving is difficult, it is just that bit too far back to put your hand in and do things casually by touch while keeping your eyes on the road.

I'm getting the airclick today! I've been one of those "contortionist's" trying to advance my tracks while the iPod sits in the center compartment. Thanks for the tip.

I have a black 60 GB video ipod.

I use the AUX port, but I'm not very happy with the quality. CDs tend to sound better.

I use my iPod for roadtrips or minimal use, most often my MP3 CD's do the job (115 tracks per CD).

I also got an iPod Video for Christmas and now I never get in the car without it. Occasionally I forget, but then a quick trip back upstairs solves the problem.

I was also looking into getting one of those remotes, but I found I can leave the iPod between the gear shift and the iDrive controller. It sits on its carrying pouch and I haven't had any problems with it moving around. It makes changing songs a breeze and it's within easy viewing distance if I want to take a look (but of course only when traffic conditions permit ).

I love my ipod nano. But it dies quickly. I think i need to take it to apple and have them run a battery check. Anyway, it goes everywhere with me.. Gym, car, home..etc.

I have heard of many people with iTrips having this exact problem -- can't find a free station or crap reception. I didn't like mine much, and was glad we have at least an Aux port.

I was reading that the problem is with the iTrip's transmitter. Some people have pulled their's apart and got the little wire out which is the aerial and let it hang outside the case, and had much more success. But I wouldn't go fiddling unless I was prepared to break it.

I also hate the way iTrip changes stations... clunky.

I've read one of the posts describing the "better" ipod configuration. Monster cable power, a 90 degree cable, and the air clicker. I'm now in business, and very happy with the set up.

I noticed someone had a post on painting the airclicker black ? That would make it less "visible". Right now I have it velcroed (sp ?) to the inside of the parking break handle.

Anyone have any input on where they have located their air clicker, and any input on the painting of the clicker ?

I have a new 30g video and I really never use it in my car. It is always pluged it so that it charges for the gym. I like using my mp3 cd so I can see the songs on the radio, plus it is easy to skip around songs while I drive. If an intergration kit comes out I am sure that will change.

Scottz5 - Good points. Like you, if I create an MP3 CD, I can have close to 200 songs, depending on the bit rate I use. So, this way I am not flipping out CDs all the time.

That being said, it does not allow me to select playlists. So, when I am not in the mood for one genre, I still need to make the change. With my iPod, all my ecclectic musical tastes can be satisfied with the selection of a new playlist.

To do that, I do need to open up the centre console...which is a bit of a pain. But, for ~$60, this set up still is pretty decent. I did see a Harmon Kardon set up which was a bit more slick, but also considerably more $$...
