OK. Now I understand the bid. Consider Freakazoid's links. Some better deals there. Good Luck.

That is a lot for shipping, I would hope that would include insurance too... as you admit though it is your fault, it definitely looks like he was trying to offset some of his ebay fees loss with a higher shipping cost

Is that it ?? Then there's no reason for him not to back out.

I would never buy any used item with only 25% off retail. Refurb w/ warranty yes, but used w/ no warranty is a no go.

Ebay used to let sellers leave neg feedback for non-paying buyers but that's not the case anymore. Sucks for sellers but works in your favor in this case.

Generally speaking ebay blows donkey dick... it's a necessary evil because there's no good competitors anymore.

But between the aforementioned 14% fees, and the lack of ability to make a seller OR buyer go through on a sale, it's just general BS

He's ripping you off on the shipping. I did a quick check. Boxed it will be around 30x24x16 and weigh around 40lbs - UPS quotes $63.37 insured to $800 on 2 day shipping from Scottsdale to Albuquerque, on eBay he quotes $168.04! That is if he went in and paid counter rates, you get a discount linking your paypal to a UPS account so he probably has a higher mark-up.

Do not feel bad about canceling this transaction. Email him explaining why you do not want to continue. If he files a unpaid transaction complaint reply stating your reasons why. eBay does not tolerate over-inflated shipping charges.

Computer & Networking listing have a slightly lower commission rate - I think his total fee's will be somewhere between 9-10%

Or you can report him to ebay for marking up shipping cost. Paying $200 for shipping is a bit ridiculous..

he is definitely ripping you off by tacking on $100 to the cost of the monitor using shipping as a way to get that out of you. The other thing you have to worry about, is he going to use the original box, if not you run the risk of it being damaged,

geezus everyone settle down. You sell shit on ebay, and put the foot on the other foot, THEN talk.
He's not 'ripping him off', or any shit like that, it was plainly put in the auction.

Yes he's charging a lot, but he's not pulling a bait and switch, or anything like that, he's doing EXACTLY what was in the auction. He's charging higher shipping fees because ebay doesn't take their 5-9% cut on it.
