Help Me with my track setup, will it rub?
I just purchased my e90 M3 and now I'm looking at purchasing track rims and tires and I need your help in determining fitment.
Here is the setup that I'm looking at:
The questions are: 1. Will this combination work without rubbing front and rear with stock EDC suspension (Either 35 offset or 22 offset)? 2. Will this combination work without rubbing front and rear when the car is lowered with lowering springs (Either 35 offset or 22 offset)? 3. Will the oversteer be much more pronounced than with a staggered setup? I would say I'm an intermediate track rat, but this will be the first time at the track with a rear-wheel drive car. I will NOT be running R-compounds. Previous car was and S4. (Yes, I know it will oversteer more than an S4 ). 4. Do I NEED to get TPMS sensors for a track-only setup? I'm fine with the idiot light being on as long as when I put my stock TPMS-equipped wheels that I can reconfigure the TPMS and get rid of the idiot light without taking the car to the dealer. Thanks in advance! Last edited by OlegE90; 06-15-2010 at 11:26 PM.. |

The D-Force are nice with lots of brake clearance.
I got these: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=382667 You can get 9.5 front and 10 rear or 10 all around. They'll clear Stoptech's but no Brembos. There's no NEED to get TPMS.

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

I believe 275/40/18 will rub up front almost 100% sure.
And that's without lowering it. |

I've run the VMW 710 with et 22 with 18" 275/35 tires with no issues, even lowered on H&R. Lots of tires in this size. Many people using this tire size with the D-force wheels with 12mm spacers.
The square setup works well. My main concern is dialing out the understeer. Ask Frenchboy about TPMS as his came on at the track a couple of weeks ago and he had to replace the tire. Probably safer to have TPMS.

275/40 x 18 tires are too tall and will hit the fender liner regardless of offset. 22 is the right offset, by the way. 275/35's will fit because they are the same height as the stock front tire. |

Yea go with the 275/35. Very popular sizing for the track guys. With the 22 offset you should have no rubbing problems.
Can I suggest the Advan RS in 18x9 +22 for a track setup. Made for the track, light weight, and strong. |

Way too narrow for a 275 for on the track. The minimum is a 9.5 with a 10" being ideal.
