funny gas station convo

I've had some good "gas-station car conversations" in the past but today's takes the cake. Keep in mind I live in a smaller town in Iowa.

Roll in to the pump past a rusted out Chevy 1500 Silverado which is beside and behind me when I stop at the pump.

Mullet: "What is that?"
Me: "M3"
Mullet: "Looks nice"
Me: "Thanks!"
Mullet: "That electric?"
Me: "Electric? Ha, C'mon dude"
Mullet: "Just sounds weird, REEEEEEEE (redneck high-rev noises?)"
Me: "It's about as far away from electric as you can get, she's pretty thirsty, high-revving V8"
Mullet: "Oh I bet, RRREEEEEEE"
Me: "Yep, have a good one sir."

Yes, an electric pulling into a gas station.

Cop: behind a tree with the radar gun.
Blonde: races down the highway is clocked at 90 Miles/hour and stopped.

well in fairness almost all electric cars are hybrids so need to fill up on gas. Usually its e85 but nonetheless I wouldn't exactly imply he is ignorant-actually may seem like the reverse.

I never said he was ignorant nor was that my intention and yes he really did have a mullet, I was still polite and had a laugh with him. Fact is someone thought the M3 might be electric (it's quite foreign around these parts as its not a Grand Prix or Mustang) and I found that amusing.

Well you said in your last line" an electric at a gas station" like it was a ridiculous thought when in fact virtually every electric goes to the station for hybrid fuel.

And not sure if you know but majority of people do not relish in the thought of an "m3" nor do they know or care what it is. So I would not think that everyone should know the all mighty m3 when it is the bottom of the barrel m car from bmw. Its great but not something people should recognize like a lambo/ferrari
