Exhaust sealant
While installing test pipes with clamps, will putting exhaust sealent between clamps and pipe prevent an exhaust leak. I am getting a new x pipe when it comes time to smog so getting them off isnt a problem. And i do not want to weld.

Yes, it can, but don't use Permatex exhaust and tail pipe sealant. It dries to a brittle, concrete-like material that cracks and falls off the piping when subjected to stress and moisture. Use a high temp rtv instead.
