Push to Start concern

Not sure if this is normal or something that should be addressed....
I have a 2012 E92 M3, and for to start the car, I have to push and hold the start button until the car to start. I've been in a few other M3s and I've seen people just pressed the start button quickly and release, and their car starts. I'm wondering is there a reason why I have to hold the start button until the car fully cranks.

Definitely not normal. Might want to start by having the entire car scanned for any errors.

I've had the car at BMW for service on several occasions and they never mentioned it.

The switch might be faulty. Are you under warranty?

Unfortunately no. Warranty expired a couple months back.

If it just expired it will probably be covered under goodwill.

Well maybe I need to try a different dealer because mine gives me a hard time over everything.
