Just drove one for the first time today, I was very impressed. There is a ton of tire and road noise from the stock dunlops and there was some wind noise, but the car has a really nice engine/ DCT tranny. There was a lot to like about the S4.

I've only used the iPhone to figure my S4Avant but the times are similar to your own, thought ever so slightly slower.
Just imagine if Audi had given the RS5 this engine with obviously a higher state of tune. What a f#€k up. |

I would have prefered a tuned 3.0 unit than the current V8

The crazy part is the S4 DSG doesn't have launch control. If it did it would be putting down very similar numbers to the RS5(which has the same tranny but launch control enabled)
Can't wait to see what they do tuned. There isn't a huge midrange improvement like with a turbo car but something like 50 AWHP above 5500 rpm. The super charged 3.0 doesn't have the insane potential that hte n54 does but it should be a very potent engine when tuned. Mine arrives in november |

Plus with a very modest level of tune it did this to an M3. [u2b]6ge84DQzqD8&feature=youtube_gdata_player[/u2b] |

Yeah it's one of the big reason I ordered my s4 and not an n55. The APR, stais, sportec etc tunes should provide much more performance then the MTM piggy.

Pulling a 6 speed M in the midrange isn't that impressive. A bone stock M DCT would have pulled the S4 with no issues. DCT trannies are an incredible advantage for midrange acceleration.

Footie Im an Audi fan but I dont care if it blows the door off an M3 the new B8 S4 sounds bad...I know that the engine sound is not a determinating factor but when I drove the B8 S4 I couldnt wait to get back in my 135(And god knows I hate Bmw besides M-car...but still managed to buy a 135I)...don't compare an Audi regular car (Not Quattro Gmbh) with an M car.
I'd still get an M3 or RS4 over that B8 S4.

P.S. I much prefer my S4 to the M3 I previously owned, much of this is down to the superior behaviour of it's DSG but a lot is down to the way the car feels in my hands, less nervous when pushing on bumpy back roads which unfortunately are part and parcel of where I live. That is pretty damn impressive for a car that weigh's 4000 pounds. Must be severely underrated as there is no way it's producing 333hp.
But I like it when the company lies about HP rating. Unfortunately, there aren't many affordable tunes available yet. APR is working on it but one of their representatives say that the S4 won't be able to break into the 11's (1/4 mile) without upgrading the supercharger.

Very nice car. I think part of the good times is the Quattro system. I test drove one and even on gravel you can just stomp on the gas and the car doesn't hesitate.
The extra traction is a big help. |
