That is one of the worst upgrade values that I have ever ever seen. You would have to be a real Nissan fan to pony up that much extra $$ for next to nothing. Just take your own back seats out and you are almost there.

Yikes, read the article, doesnt seem like one gets all that much more out of this new V spec, hell I'd just get a GTR if I wanted in Vspec and remove the rear seats, and put on some CF bucket seats, and then throw in an odyssey battery which would probably help me save more weight even. $7k for a different paint job, and some rims that they picked out for me. I dont now this seems like a bad deal.
I bet it will sell out though -people will want the badge, so they know what they are doing. |

Nissan is trying to milk a bad situation they are in. The GTR isn't all that and I've heard all in bound cars not yet delivered already have LC disabled. What a cluster f@ck.

Is this intended as a dedicated race car or is it for the street.
If it is truly a competive track car the price really is not that outrageous. I don't know what the price of the racing version of the M3 is but I am sure it is more than $170K.

LOL - No hp increase, an extra 15 tourqe. What a $170,000 rip off. Just buy the base model and mod the sh*t out of it.
Can you say Nissan is making up for selling the base GTR for so cheap. All the GTR fanboys were saying 600hp for the Vspec. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Exactly.... it's just a Nissan. I wouldn't buy it at half the price. For a small fraction you could build a stroker motor for the ///M or even slap a supercharger on it for less and blow this thing away.

That is a JOKE, at the end it is just a Jap car (Nissan). Nothing special.

IMO the GTR would be a great car for about $50K, overpriced at $80K, a hold a gun to my head and blow it off now at $100K. If the specs of the V-spec GTR are accurate, I am just dumbfounded. The car is lauded for its 0-60 time. A worthless measure of performance for any car north of 400HP IMO. I wish the standard for straight line performance would be bumped to 0-100 (and 0-30 and 0-60 would not even be mentioned at all!) A few of the mega horsepower cars out there right now can do 0-60 in first gear! What a useless performance measure. Useful back in the day (70s and 80s) when cars ran 9 second 0-60 times; But, not anymore. Sadly, without LC, the GTR has nothing to elevate it over the multitude of high performance cars (new and used) available right now in its price range. If it is true they are no longer being shipped with LC I say good riddance!

Best wait until it's tested before disbelieving that figure. There is sure to be more to the V-spec tahn meets the eye and if it gets ever closer to that seven minutes twenty mark there has to be more than just a bit of weightwatchers. After all the basic model has been posting results which suggest a figure closer to 525~530hp. |

For that price, I'd rather just buy 2 regular GT-Rs (one base and one premium) and mod the lighter base model (ecu tune, removal of some interior parts to save weight, upgrade brakes if need be, etc etc) and in doing so it would probably outrun the GT-R Spec V on a track anyway.

But I think it's more like:
$70 for ZO6 (with normal options) $62 for M3 (with moderate options) $45 for 135i (with moderate options) But still I agree. $170k for a lightened GT-R with CF brakes and a few additional mods is steep. They SHOULD of given the car at least 30 additional hp to. But I bet they were worried about their drivetrain reliability so they didn't. Which would worry me if I was a GT-R owner knowing the drivetrain is so near it's limit that Nissan felt they didn't want to give the Spec V any more power. |
