Hesitation off idle with ESS kit?
I have the ess 625 kit and am getting some hesitation off idle. Especially when cold. Never at any RPM except right off idle.
I have replaced the plugs and primary O2s but am still having the issue. The last thing on my list to try are new injectors but that will be pretty expensive. I purchased the kit used so I am thinking maybe the injectors are dirty? Any thoughts? Thanks in advance. |

I have experienced a similar issue, even had it die turning a corner once. This is after letting it go through cold start. I also have noticed the same thing at near redline, as if it was being fuel starved. I was planning to contact ESS at some point.
I have plugs and coils but have not installed them yet. |

Have you tried using some data logging to see if anything looks out of the ordinary? I'm never a fan of just arbitrarily replacing parts.

Not sure what others are using, hopefully some of the more technical guys can comment. When I used to have my Audis, I would use the VCDS software to look at sensor data, engine load, injector duty cycle, MAP, etc. It's very possible that a sensor could be flaking out and not sending data (or sending incorrect data), which would throw off the ECU. Datalogging might capture it. Either way, I would still engage ESS for help. They might even ask you for datalogging.

Def agree with Dparm... Some datalogging to provide to ESS would help them address your problem...
It could be that your software just needs some tweaking down in the low rpms.. I am certain that ESS puts the most effort in building a solid platform in software through testing, testing, and more testing; but no company can always get it perfect for every car... atmospheric pressure, humidity, elevation, etc are different for every car depending on the location. Sometimes minor adjustments need to be made based on those unique values, but more importantly, specific problems that are occurring while driving... |

My car has nearly 50,000 miles so I am going to replace the gears in the throttle actuators and see if that helps. Then next on the list is the idle control valve but this has already been replaced about 20,000 miles ago.

Even if you have to buy some software, it's better than running lean on an injector and toasting your motor. |

Not sure if I am missing something. This is my best guess. PS: I am not throwing any codes as well. I did full scans using both torque and carly for BMW app. |

I agree I should do some data logging.. I already have the bavtech software. I honestly haven't been doing anything on the car but driving it.. been working on a home remodel. |

My 650 does this too but it's minor and I've learned to live with it. Car has spent hours on dynos and logging data. It's dialed in. Email AJ at ESS just to see if he has any thoughts

DCT? Maybe reload the software or upgrade to the GTS DCT software?
