K&N filter cleaner

Can you clean a BMC filter with the K&N cleaner and recharge oil? I know BMC sell their own cleaner and oil but their site also said use appropriate cleaner/oil. Since I use K&N air filters on my other car I have their filter cleaner/oil already, so it would nice if I could avoid having buy the same from BMC.

Thoughts?

Yes, no problem. They are both cotton based filters. Guys use dawn dish soap or simple green to clean as well without issue.

The oil is compatible across brands too. Use with confidence.

I hear if you use the wrong filter cleaner kit, your bearings will fail?

-used k&n on the MS filter. Worked like a charm

Right. First it's the MAF then the bearings go.
