Need more head room at the track - would changing seats help?
On the track with the helmet on it's impossible to actually turn my head all the way to the left due the helmet not clearing the roof of the car. Could some aftermarket seats help with this by being "deeper" and closer to the road surface? If so, which ones would you recommend to achieve max head room clearance? Thank you

i'm curious about this as well. i'm 6'03" and i bump a little when i turn my head sharply to my left. it isn't too bothersome since i only do that when entering the pits, but its still annoying.
i haven't had the time to properly investigate, but if there is room, i would prefer to lower the oem seat. if i do get a bracket made, i'd get a few sets made and sell the extra sets to others.

Recaro Sportster CS: lighter than stock, hold you better than stock, very comfy, and mounts a couple inches lower than stock :-)

Looks like Recaro aftermarket seats is the way to go. A couple of inches should be enough. When you guys say "proper mounts" do I have to look for something in particular or just find the matching mounts for the Recaro seats and my car?

I used MachtSchnell floor mounts an the Recaro brackets. However, the initial installation is a PITA as the bolts are hard to reach.

This. I'm 6'6" and fit in my slick top with a helmet no problem but would guarantee you could get another 2-3" of headroom with mounts, sliders and side mounts as you can mount a race bucket very low and pull out padding if you want to go extreme. I still have my Recaro Profi SPG XL which is recovered in tan pleather if anyone is interested. I even have side mounts and sliders but no floor mounts.

This is one of those situations where being 5' 8" and 150 pounds is not a drawback. |
