i bought a cheap steam machine from Kmart for $40
steamed all the leather seats
first of all it disolves all oils and grease on the seats
you see the dirty water run down (make sure you have a lot of microfiber or cotton towels to wipe it)
steam makes them look brand new
and it makes the leather dry, so you can apply your leather conditioner of choice, and it just sucks it up
leave for a day in the sun, then wipe all seats to rub off excess conditioner
and the seats look as good as new, and no smell
This ^^^ is the best advise ... just do it.

I bought a '08 Melbourne Red E92 6spd a few weeks ago, and aside from the fact the previous owner didn't tell me up front the car was a supercharged test mule, he also left out the fact the car had been smoked in....it was all nice and detailed when I picked it up, smelling of overly done air freshener... by the time I got it home (500 miles later) the smoke smell was hard to ignore. It's the first thing my wife mentioned when she got in the car. The car was sent back to the seller and (most of) my money was refunded. Driving a nice non-smoker 2009 now

and I agree, it will never, ever come out. Too many areas have been permeated....

Sell it to another smoker, who doesn't appreciate nice things and is either too rich or too stupid to properly care for a car like an M3....
