Usually, it takes about 2-3 hours for a spring change.
When you do a coil over kit, which also requires all four shocks to be replaced, 4-5 hours would be a reasonable number. Keep in mind that carpeting in the trunk also need to be removed/reinstalled in order to access the rear shocks. |

If that includes a corner balance, then it's about right. If it's 6 hours, it better include an alignment.

I did my own KW Clubsport install. It's not difficult, although the Clubsport is easy because the front struts are exchanged and not dismantled. Which KW kit do you have?

Wow that is indeed rape...I got mine done here at a pretty reputable local shop(you probably heard of it if you ventured over on Audizine's Canadian section)..with corner balancing I was done in 4ish 5 hours....
He did mention how the OEM suspension was harder to work with then the usual, but that only made him work an extra 10 mins on each front side. Why don't you go on to the Canadian section(both regular e90 and m3post) and see what recommendations you get.

I would say its about 3 to 4 install KWs, 1 to 1.5 hours for a good alignment and another hour or so for the corner balance.
If you are doing all three, it will take a good 7-8 hours IMO. But 7-8 hours just to install the coils is absurd. Its like Dinan dealers, they freakin want to charge 7 hours of labour just to install their springs.

Installation alone without rushing is around 4+ hours. Takes time to count threads on the shock bodies plus check the valving. Then there is also the possibility of adjusting the height once installed.

Alright... this thread is getting filled with random information, so let me break down the labor for you since I've done it many many times:
Front 0.75 hr Disconnect sway bars (4 bolts), remove upper guide support (6 bolts), remove strut assembly (2 bolts), disconnect headlight sensor (1 bolt) 0.50 hr Reinstall new strut assembly 0.25 hr Install EDC emulator (2 bolts + a pair of connectors + wiring) Rear 0.50 hr Remove trunk lining 0.50 hr Remove stock shocks (4 bolts), unbolt lower camber arms (2 bolts), remove stock spring 0.50 hr Install new springs, new shocks 0.50 hr Install trunk lining 0.25 hr Install EDC emulator (wiring + taping) Ride height adjustment/corner balance: 0.50 hr Alignment 1.00 hr Total 5.75 hrs including alignment. Remember, a rushed job is never a good job. |

My local shop quoted me about 6 hrs of labor including alignment. It will cost about $600 but most likely it will be cheaper they said. I'm doing the Ground Control setup on my car, which is being done this Thursday.

We install Kw's for 4hrs labor plus $60 for alignment, That's a fair time for the customer and the tech we feel. Anything above 5hrs is padding it way to much IMO, anyone in the Tampa FL area in need hit us up
