You guys are all wanking for no reason... what do you expect when you buy a car setup for spirited driving and light track use? Get a loud exhaust, turn up your stereo, or go buy a 550 for daily driving, problem solved!

Going to have all the above checked at an upcoming service but I am sure I will get the "it's normal for a M" explanation. |

I can hear a whistling sound while driving highway speeds. I think it's coming from my side mirror (only driver side). Anyone else have this? Any suggestions on how to fix?

pressurize the brake system fluid in the lines. There is a noticeable correlation between front brake pad wear/thickness and how long that pump operates on startup.

I've seen a few people post about the engine revving up and down slightly at idle when first started, and noticed it myself occasionally. Is that normal?

Pretty much every BMW does this when cold.

Anyone had an issue with the brakes clanking immediately if you get on them gently at low speeds?
I had this happen frequently on my E46 too. |

How about feeling when you have the clutch pedal or brake pedal pushed in when the windshield wipers cycle? Feels like the wiper arms are hitting the pedals. Or the clicking sound when you stop the car when the brakes are hot? Especially after a hot lap at the track.

How about the following:
1) Power steering motor noise when turning at very low speeds (seems to make more sound when servotronic/sport steering is on). 2) At stoplight with clutch disengaged (6MT), slight clanking noise coming from flywheel (almost sounds like a diesel engine). Disappears when engage (press down) clutch pedal thx |

You should hear my E34 M5 at idle in neutral. Some truly epic clanking. Engage the clutch and voila. The E34 also goes CLUNK CLUNK CLUNK if you come off the clutch too quickly while decelerating in first gear at low speeds. Funny to think that M cars still do this after all of these years. |

-Small electric motor sound for 5 secs on start coming from near the headlight knob. Check. No idea what it is. -Whining from the exhaust on a cold start for about 20 seconds. Check. I've heard this is that cats warming up. -Ping ping, like a pebble in a coffee can at VERY slow speeds. Pebble caught in the brake shield. Has happened 2-3 times. Can he shaken out with a hard stop at low speed. -Low rubbing sound during a low speed, all-the-way-tight turn. Rear locking diff. -Loud whine from passenger side of vehicle near the 6500k+ RPM range. Girlfriend. |

I may have missed it here but the sound of the brakes shrinking and tink tink tinking after a nice drive is bloody fantastic. besides WOT in 2nd or 3rd gear, or the blip in downshift that may be my favorite M3 sound. all of which are perfectly normal. and awesome
and i have the drivers pillar noise which i know is not normal. |

After driving, when the brakes cool, they make a weird clicking or popping noise.... Had rattling but that was cause of the drone from my exhaust. Then I switched to the OEM exhaust mod and no rattle anymore....
