Intro Thread - New E90 Owner

Hi Folks,

I will be a new E90 owner on Friday 7-11. I figured I'd start an introduction thread and post some pictures of the car as I get her. It's a Carmax car so going to get either the 75k or 100k maxcare warranty (any comments on this?) Car currently has 29k miles, Florida car, but sold out of Carmax IL for some reason.

After riding in Bond_007's E90 I finally pulled the trigger myself.

Would love to know about some of the options I found from the Vin Decoder on the car and if I'm upgradable to BMW Apps.

I'm excited to be a part of this very helpful community and contribute back!

Well specced. Looks like previous owner added black kidneys too.

Btw, there's some great support in NC/SC. We are also planning on going on a drive soon too. Congrats on the car!

Thanks Everyone! I've been doing some reading, and before acquiring the car, is there an easy way to tell based on build date if I can 'upgrade' to the BMW apps functionality?

AFAIK, BMW Apps was a hardware implementation, not an unlockable thing via coding, etc.

Based on the build date, it seems you should have Connected Drive and BMW apps
http://www.m3post.com/forums/showpos...1&postcount=25

you can also go to bmwarchive.org to check what options your car has.

Very nice and looks to be completely loaded...including the rear sun shade The Headlight cleaning system option is the only one I would not have wanted but that's pretty minor. Enjoy!!!

The CarMax warranty by the warranty group is comprehensive and covers all the parts if u get the best plan. It covers everything EasyCare/CPO would cover if u just got the power train.

Thanks, it looks like they've got just one level. The only option is mileage. Durations are all the same. Factory warranty should be good until 5/2015 or 50k too.

Really appreciate the responses and links from everyone, very helpful! 2 more days and counting until I get to park it in the drive way!

I really like the CF splitters and mirrors on your car. I hope to do the same as I sell off some goodies from the old ride!

Early congratulations.

I bought my E90M3 from Carmax a little over a year ago and had a great experience.

My comments on the warranty are:
1. Where will you have the car serviced? Put a call into them. My independent has a lot of experience with Carmax's maxcare and recommended it.
2. I bought the maxcare 100,000 mile warranty with mine. I bumped up the deductible (realistically when something breaks on these cars, it's going to be very expensive) and have peace of mind for a virtual bumper to bumper and 4 years and effectively 60,000 miles. If you're going to keep this car things are going to break. I'm sorry, I love my BMW but my Porsche, Audi and BMW ownership experience is that these cars aren't as reliable as the Japanese competition. Flame me all you want but that's my actual ownership experience. Sadly, most of the Japanese brands don't drive as well... but that's for another thread.
3. When I bought mine, Carmax would finance the warranty too. I got financing under 2.0% which prompted me to not use my cash.

Good luck, lots of happy, safe miles.

Which deductible did you go with? the $200 100k/mike 5 years seems reasonable to me for $2595

Congrats! I just got mine 2 months ago from Carmax in FL as well. Mine is also a ZCP sedan. I opted for the 100k warranty just in case I kept it over 75k miles (bought it with 22k). From what they said it's also transferable so worst case it could be a selling point if I sell later on.

Enjoy!
