Help! 2 Hour Old Car Flat Tire!!

Hey Fellas,

My night started off great! I picked up a 2010 Space Grey fully loaded sedan for 9200 off msrp.

Bad news was when I went to show my bother my car at his place, driving in his street at night, we ran over something (i believe a very small piece of glass). I heard a popping sort of loud noise when I ran over it. None the less my tpms light came on and my left rear tire began leaking air.

I was extremely heated earlier tonight but have calmed down a little bit. My car is equipped w/ 19's w/ the Continental ContiSportContact 3 tires. I called bmw assist and they said they would tow it to the dealership and have them replace the tire. The last thing I want to see is my brand new m3 on a tow truck for the love of god.

Question is are these tires run flat? I have an air compressor in the back of the car. I'm spending the night at his place and I don't know what to do. Take the wheel off the car in the morning and have a tire place replace it. Or if these are run flat tires, maybe I can pump some air in them (from the compressor in the back) and drive it to a tire shop (about 5 miles away)..

PLEASE HELP!

They are not runflats. Have the car flatbedded to a dealer or reputable tire shop. Most tire places will likely not stock the correct M3-specific Continental ContiSport Contact 3. You will need to have that tire ordered.

I know the Michelin-speced M3's are not RFT's. Not sure about the Conti's.....

Either way, use BMW Assist and have it flatbedded to the dealership.

They don't even make those tires in the 19" diameter, let alone in M3-specific sizes! You are 100% incorrect.

Let me reiterate: M3's do not come with runflats.

All an RFT is is a tire with a really, REALLY stiff sidewall. Perfomarance tires have...wait for it...really stiff sidewalls.

You do NOT have RFTs. I'll bet my car on it.

You don't even know what a runflat is an you're dispensing advice?? !! Filling a flat tire with air and driving it doesn't make it a RFT.

Ditto... no run flats.

Like Quality Sound said, the stiff side walls of the performance tires will make it seem like a run flat, but they are not.

Put her up on a jack stand, pull that wheel off, and find a shop that can get you a new tire. No biggie.

Good luck!

Are you planning on tracking the car? If not, see if you can get it patched and plugged. I had a similar experience with my E46 M3 and a screw in the rear tire after 500 miles. I got the tire plugged and patched and it lasted until the wear bars (about 20K miles). I did NOT track the car so if that is your plan I would recommend getting a replacement tire.

The M3 does NOT come with runflats. To the OP, do as most of the others have said and have the car flatbedded to the dealer or reputable tire shop.

Just to be clear, no M CARS (M3, M5, M6) come with runflats but the SAVs (X5M and X6M) do.

Cars with RFT do not come with air compressors (I've had a couple). The whole runflat theory is that you can drive on them with no air. As others have said, these are not runflats.
