LOL first time I ear that, makes a lot of sense! But the best is still to drive a fast car fast!

But to me driving pleasure is more worthy of my hard earned cash, than anything else (other than family of course)

If you want fun driving and pretty good gas mileage
I'd recommend the scion frs/Subaru brz
Or the fiat 500 abarth
I had the regular 500 and it was tons of fun to drive
That was 38mpg
The abarth has a lot more power and still manages 36mpg
TT-RS offers lots of performance with pretty good gaz mileage!

living in the DC area, I concur that the mpg would take a hit in the commuter traffic here. Luckily I can take metro to work, which is 35 minutes door to door for me daily.

My M3 gets a workout on the weekends and I average 14 mpgs in mixed city/hwy.

Recently I made a trip out to Fair Lakes and averaged between 22-23 mpgs. It's all about how you drive the car. Of course in my trip, the hwy was wide open so there was no stop and go traffic.

I think once you find out how much you are going to lose selling it, you will probably just keep the car.

So what, if you spend another 3k on gas over the next couple years vs. an "efficient" daily driver like a 335i. At least you'll have fun burning the gas.

That is, unless you don't like other parts of the car or the sheer act of having to stop for petrol so often. The expense of gas is not really a good reason to sell a car you just bought (especially from a dealer).

Looks like a nice far and fair deal though, glws.

TT-S has even better mpgs. it's all about priorities.

The new Cayman, Boxster, and 911 lines gets high 20s mpg in hwy. But you'll have to buy a base model.

no rush to sell it, rather sell it off and lose little than to sell in a year to lose big.

i know m3 is going turbo. But my speed6 made nearly much power as the m3 and whole boat load of torque and got above 20mpg and was not babied at all. The v8 in the m3 is pretty epic though, its like a 2 k20 fused side byside.

The two cars I drive are my M3 and a 2003 F-150. The M3 gets better mileage. But my commute is only 11 miles.

Spending $4 per gallon = Premium fuel
Driving 12 MPG = Gas guzzler
Driving fast while burning gas = Exhilarating
Hearing a V8 M3 engine sound = Priceless

I don't like my M3 as daily driver either, not about the fuel consumption though. It is just the DCT is being hard to deal with in stop n go traffic here in socal. (i know MT guys must have it worse). My knee hurts after 3 months of dealing with this. I had an X6 which much better as DD. But the car is too fun for me to sell right now..

You have a dct and your knee hurts. From what? Not pushing a clutch pedal?

For what it's worth, I carpool with my coworker shes got 335Xi, our mpg is about the same. Round trip to and from work is a quarter of the tank. I had chance to drive X3 2.8 recenetly for two days as rental and that car wasnt that much better with gas.

Poor gas mileage is one of the reasons I traded my 2009 M3 for a 2013 Audi S4. I was averaging 12.7 MPG in DC. The price of gas wasn't the issue for me...it was the frequency of fill-ups. I couldn't even make it 7 days without refueling. The S4 is so much better, as it's much more fuel efficient.

I'm not sure how you guys average over 20 MPG on the highway with the M3. I drove from Atlanta to DC on all highways with cruise control most of the way...I averaged 20.5 MPG...
