My Stealth Valentine 1 install

Pics of my stealth install. The V1 is under that cover in the last pic on the rear decklid. I used a small amount of velcro to hold the detector to the cover and the cover to the decklid. I don't lose laser detection with this setup. I've been running this setup for a month or so and works great.

Got my v1 in the mail on Friday just as I was walking out the door to head to salt lake. Heading to Austin this weekend so I'm hoping I get a day to do this install before the road trip.

I need to do this to my V1. Would you mind sharing the info on parts and install?

I'm sorry but that doesn't look too stealth to me. Instead of one detector mounted up near the mirror you have three separate devices conspicuously scattered throughout the car.

You can find them on eBay but I wasn't sure on the condition so I got mine here:

Shipping was like 7 bucks for me I think

Not so. You can't see any of it from the outside. My old V1 was mounted up by the mirror and they smashed my driver side window and ripped it out. Caused alot of damage. Even if they did see it, to get into the back seat of a E92 and grab the V1 would take some time. The remote concealed display is under my Texas stickers in the windshield (finally a good reason for them) and the volume control is not visable from the outside. My whole purpose was because of the previous theft and the damaged it caused to my E90 335. There's no radar detector up by my mirror for the thugs to see and steal.

I got mine from ebay and yes you do have to watch to get a good one. I paid $15 plus $5 shipping. Or you can go the route that OilPatch went, looks good.
All other parts came from Valentine 1 website and I just used velcro to attach them. Very easy install.

Nice setup. Between the rear camera and this, you are probably getting good at hiding wires in the car. I have my concealed display behind my Registration sticker as well. I had it at the house and installed it because it allows me to keep my vision focused up ahead. I have my V1 on the passenger side of the rear mirror, so it's hard to see the arrows without moving my head and body.

I attempted this install last night, but the power cable supplied wasn't long enough for me. How long did you go with?

No not price, just appearance. There's some old faded ones on ebay so just watch for one in good condition.

I have the fuse box install setup with the harness that comes from V1 in my glove box. then have the phone cord running to the back, probably around a 20 footer with some left over which I tucked up in the trunk.

Ahh okay, I'm using savvy so I'm just running it straight to the OBD, I was thinking maybe 15' but 20' will give me plenty. This is just a regular phone cable correct?

Thanks! Same deal here, I originally had the display near the volume control but didn't like taking my eyes off the road to look at it so moved it up on the dash and really like it there. I don't even notice it unless it goes off.

Great job on the install! If it wasnt for the fact that I was pretty happy with my V1 in the windshield I would probably attempt something like this.

I found it interesting though, when you talk about a stealth install it was with respect to the idiots that broke into your car (terribly sorry to hear about that). When I think stealth, Im thinking away from LEO stealth, haha. Luckily I havent had any bad experiences with anyone trying to get into my car (yet). However, I always take down the V1 from the windshield when I park since I live in FL and the thing gets burning hot pretty soon, so it's not sitting up there tempting anyone to break my window and run off with the V1.

Not to threadjack here ore anything but I know some of you guys were contemplating some jammers/blinders, oilpatch being one if I remember correctly? Have any of you guys done anything with that yet?

For the most part it's a regular phone cord, although I bought a 12' cord from radio shack and it didn't work. Took it back for a replacement and that one didn't work either. Found a at&t cord from the attic and it worked so not sure what the dif is.

Thanks! When I had my V1 mounted up by the mirror, I was taking it down every time I went into a store. Living in Houston, it was getting pretty hot too. With this setup it doesn't get anywhere near as hot plus I'm not taking it down every time.
