hardened sludge

can anyone tell me what this is on the inside if the fill cap? it's hardened.. ?

Saw a post about that somewhere before. That's the paint that's flaking off... BMW will not replace it under warranty because it's not causing any issues/problems "yet." As for many of us, truly it hasnt caused any damage but aesthetically and for peace of mind, some of use changed the part out.

Dont strap it or agitate it or else more might flake off. Just let it be and honestly it "should be fine"...
