VF540 kits

There are no less than 5 used VF540 kits currently for sale. What's the deal?

This may be crazy but maybe the car is better without one?

I want to S/C, but seeing this many VF kits on the market has me concerned. I would imaging if there were problems it'd be plastered all over the forum, but that's not the case. Kinda strange.

No issues with mine. Maybe the install scared guys off. Maybe they just didn't like it on their cars. There are some downsides: Tires and brakes need to be replaced faster, gas mileage sucks, speeding tickets go up...

I noticed the same thing. Strange. If its a cash thing for people, why are all of them VF540s? Perhaps since its the "cheaper" version they went for it, but decided cost was still too high. Can't figure it out.

Probably not, I would bet that if there are issues and the manufacturer offers to assist, it's with a confidentiality agreement to keep it off these boards.

The forums are the single largest marketing channel for companies like this, who else is buying them?

If they get slandered or have reliability/durability issues and it gets posted up on the boards, the negative perception and sales decline that followed could be steep.

I think there might be something going on, I've read too many hints at it to think its coincidence. Granted people are parting there cars out and they are arguably the most plentiful kits, so it's reasonable for there to be a larger qty of these then the other kits.

EAS recently switched from a VF kit to an EAS kit. In this post

http://www.m3post.com/forums/showpos...6&postcount=43

Tom answers some questions as to why:

During post-track inspection - I was pleased not to see any engine codes stored at all, something that I haven't seen in a long time.

I'd rather not get into the VF vs ESS debate, there are plenty of those threads elsewhere.
Def. something that is on my mind as I'm in the market. Having a vendor jump ship like that was a bit surprising, and he didn't pull any punches, which I appreciate. Having 2 diff. kits on the same car with no add'l changes is a good thing, as it offers a comparison few of us get to experience.

I am one of those sellers.

My reason for selling is simple, I had two superchargers.

After purchasing my 540 kit I found a great deal on a 620 that would save me upgrade expenses down the line. I jumped on the 620 kit and installed it before ever touching the 540 kit.

I have driven similar ESS and Gintani supercharged cars (albeit, NOT on the track). All of them are great choices. From my experience, they weren't any better or worse than the VF kit. The only aspect I notice is that the VF kit is made to look very OEM, therefore not as flashy or "sexy" as the other companies manifolds. This is subjective but I chose the VF kit for its OEM appearance (I have had multiple cars impounded for modifications, thanks SoCal), and the bang for the buck.

You really can't go wrong with any company... because well...

you are supercharging a M3.
