Want To Chip My M3...help!
Ok guys, I know a little bit about this stuff (so im not a complete moron when it comes to performance mods).
I have the Eisenmann Race exhaust and Rogue Engineering Pulleys and lastly the RPi Scoops. I WANT TO CHIP MY M3. To my knowledge, Active Autoworkes is the only well known company who has a software upgrade...but $900+ for what is it....15 hp ? Doesnt really seem worth it! I don't understand...these cars apparently have so much more power to them then BMW allows us to see/have. Why can't someone come out with a good chip that makes at least 30-40 hp. It shouldn't be very tough for a BMW M V8 engine to do this... any suggestions or comments on this?

"its a vert any way, why are you dumping money into performance mods?" That might be one of the most narrow-minded comments I've seen here! Because I bought a convertible I shouldn't do performance mods? Are you on of those guys thats gonna say, I should have got a 328i Cab if I wanted a convertible? Sorry man, but your a moron! On that note, because my car is heavier and slower (by tenths of a second then your E92). Is all the more reason I should do performance mods, to make my car quicker then a stock E92 M3. Its not horrible, but its not great either! Its worth closer to $500-$600 imho

I don't know of any NA BMW motors that have achieved a 30-40 HP gain (or comparable gain given the rated HP of the motor) just with a chip. I think that when tuners talk about the M3 V8, they talk about the potential of the motor as a whole. They don't mean to say that you can reprogram the ECU and get a huge boost in output. Take a look at the stickied thread from PencilGeek. It doesn't look like AA is the only reputable company out there working on a chip. |

Your sick on the 335 part... You can mod a m3 to get to 500hp..without it falling apart.. Look at pg post's ... a exhaust ,pulley , AA software...Getting 465,,470.. Being stingy on the number's.....with a cost of 6k.... How much $$$ would a 335 cost to get it to 414????

465 -470 meant crank..... pg (pencil geek)is the person that did his mods on the m3..I don't think a 335 can get 415 whp without it falling in pieces... Also even if a 335 can get 415 whp.. A slightly modified (exhaust) m3 would beat a 335 on the track and in a straight line....hbp335 dummy ,stupid , retard, crack baby, test tube baby, knocklehead, douche,moran,,etc.... Be nice....Why get made... Buy yourself a real race car a ////MMMMMMMMM

pg is pencilgeek.
And as far as the 335 vs m3 modding go, u guys cant really b serious now can u? Judging from the video of the chipped m3 and the chipped 335, which according to some ppl will put 400+ to the wheels, the M3 took it by over 7 cars, so please end the bs, the modded 335 has no chance against a modded M3, and will probably just keep up with a stock M3. So like I said, judging from that video, altho the vert is 400+lbs heavier if he chips it I will still put my money on the M3 vs the 335 who spent 3K. Nuff said. |

You guys make it seem as though the Vert is slow??!! What's wrong with you people!!
We're talking about an M3 here!! I had a Chipped , Full Catback Exhaust E92 335 before my CONVERTIBLE M3 and it would never stand a chance against my E93M. |

Our E92 M3s are so awful that people with non-m E90s and E92s have to come to the M3 forum to see how our lousy cars are doing. Well done!

To the OP! Dont get wrapped up on Hp number I used to do that when I was young.. Learn how to drive your car (not saying you dont know how to drive). Go to the drag strip go to a autocross, and do some track days. Theres alot of people on here claiming Hp number ect.. thats all great, but in the end it comes down to the driver.. What good is a 500hp car if some one thats a better driver walks you with 100hp less..
Everyone here thinks they can drive, but in reality I would say 10% are above average drivers (the guys going and doing trackdays/drag strip). I recommend taking your car to the drag strip. ! Why? Because its super cheap easy on your car (compared to doing a trackday), and you learn the basics, like controlling grip, launching, shifting fast, basically learning to drive your car, it will also give you a good idea on what you can run with your car.. Get some times for your car with you driving and then mod it more power! More power doesnt usally mean a faster car. Example my 350Z running high boost 700 to the wheels is only 2 sec faster at VIR than me running low boost 500hp... 2sec you can miss a shift or go in to deep and loose more time.. On the drag strip 700 and 500 is like driving two diffrent kinds of cars, with only a sec in E.T difference.. My point is you can do alot of damage with your M as it is right now IF you get to know it.. In two weeks a have a meet with the Z06 guys at the drag strip and I promise I will spank 4 out of th 6 that will show.. Its all in the driver!! Ok that my useless post for today!1111

Either way, i would take a stock M3 with a contract stating that I will never put a single mod on it then a fully modded 335. But thats just me. |

I love that everyone thinks the vert is so slow. its way way way faster then my chipped 335 was..period.
I really just don't understand those comments about why would you want to do performance mods...its a convertible... The damn car is an M3.. its a performance car, so its a little heavier and a few tenths of a second slower then the coupe. so what. Cant we all just get along.. Slammed, get teh AA ecu, its worht the money, you cant get gains like you can on a turbo car. but $900 for 15hp it fine. you probably wont feel it much to be honest but that with your other mods will definatly be a difference.

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

Thats what i mean. But that extra power comes with an 11K price tag lol. Not many ppl would spend that kind of money for an extra 5-10hp. As u can see most ppl that would are the same ones that are putting stroker kits on their M's...
