I would just like for them to make it shift when you push the lever. Eliminate the lag and I will be happy. Why is the lag even there in the first place I am wondering?

That's good news and also the reason for this thread. Too bad it's after BMWCCA Octoberfest at the Glen.

My SA notified me that they received new "vehicle software". Unfortunately he needs to call BMW to make sure this includes the M-DCT software update and then get their computers set up to get it put into cars. He does think this is the M-DCT updgrade.

I had my 1200 mile service yesterday and my SA said that the new software was making the M3's stall more often than before the update. He then told me that, due to those glitches, it wouldn't be ready for another two months which would put it around the middle of November before we see an update! So I'm not holding my breath.

I really wonder if BMW is telling us a bunch of bull...I have been told by the Service Manager, who has inquired with BMWNA that the software package to fix the DCT issues is scheduled for end of this month...I guess we will see, won't we

I just asked my service manager at difeo BMW in tenafly, NJ
and he said that there is nothing in the computers about a service update. However, he did say that just because it is not in the computers NOW, doesn't mean that in a few weeks there will be one

i was told the update will be at dealers in about two weeks. in addition to the "lag" it will also tweak the downshifts made by the computer when youare coming to a stop.

Please post the SIB number (and SIB itself if you can get a copy), once you find out. I pickup my car at PCD in late Oct and want to ensure this fix is installed before leaving PCD. Thanks

I am not sure if this will help solve anyones downshifting problem but I discovered this on my M5 with SMG III and apply it while driving my M-DCT M3 as well.

On the M5 when you just brake and downshift , you get a blip but just enough to protect the engine. This is a fact. In order to get the proper rev-matched downshift you either need to have your foot on the throttle while downshifting or if you are braking do it heel / toe style so your foot is on the throttle lightly while braking then downshift.

I use these same techniques on my M3 and have never had a missed downshift, whether on the street or tearing it up at the track.
