I guess I have another question then (sorry -- you are being a really good sport about this): what tires did each car have?

So the R8 has two times now, with a whole second between them. Probably different drivers or different weather which is fine. But the list only covers times over an a 11 second range, so that one second is a pretty big margin for error (9% or so).

Good question. I doubt that it is, but I suppose its possible they have a pre-release test car over there already.

So...at the moment the gap is between these good news from one side and the the catastrofic tests performed from the Spanish magazine....Who is closer to the true ???
I quote the German magazine ....because in any case these times are not so far from what BMW declares and normally they say the true...
Sure the best two magazines in Germany...still have to be released...so we will see...I hope less than two weeks for the final results......

Im disappointed with Autozeitung, now the M3 doesnt impress me. Pilot Sport Cup tires , why? that is so lame.
There must be a explanation from Autozeitung.

I think something went wrong in the AUTOZEITUNG Artikel...I donīt believe that they put the M3 on other tyres then that delivered from BMW...and on the pictures in the magazin the M3 stands on the standard 19"M3-wheels as shown in many spypics in this forum...

I donīt know if the 19"-Option meens anytime Michelin Sport Cup...would be nice, but in the M3 cataloge is no notice if 19"tyres stands for Sport(Cup)tyres...

It is very strange. It may be that the article is wrong and standard tires were used on the M3, but Cup tires would explain why the M3 has its shortest braking distances when hot but the R8 and C6 are the opposite. Does Autozeitung have a forum where a german speaker could raise this question and get a response from the magazine?

Ugh

Great numbers but totally meaningless if the car was indeed tested with PSC tires. Not sure why they would do this, does not sound likely to me. We need to get to the bottom of this. German members - please help!!

Is this correct that a S600 Benz beat the E46 M3? How the hell could that happen?
