I have 2 young kids I need to drive around to practice/games and they're ALWAYS drinking something. They don't drink in the car, but need a place to put their drinks.

At the risk of being helpful, Kev did it in his E92

Link

Our two kids will use these occasionally for water on longer trips.

Haven't done it (did do storage compartment in place of rear ashtray), but it should be very straightforward. Part #7 on this diagram, "drink holder" 51 16 6 963 909. Unlike the link, this should fit the standard coupe rear console, 51 16 6 963 900.

Great thread! Never realized they made a cup holder for the rear. I had friends sit in the backseats a few weeks ago and they were like whatttt, no cupholders. I'll grab one and install it.

EDIT: Didn't realize it was $250. They can hold their own drinks..

The insert for the console should be less than $75. You don't have to replace the whole console, I don't think.

So can it hold can of coke or hopefully a Gatorade bottle?
Or is it basically useless?

I've always considered the one in my E93 328i to be pretty much useless.

I have a rear console out of an e93 with cupholders that I will donate to the cause if anyone wants it. Freebie, just come get it if you are in the Nashville area. It has some scuffs, but can easily be reconditioned. Really don't feel like messing with shipping on a freebie.

There is a mod thread where a guy did do this in his E92. I believe once he removed the original cubby he had to trim a bit but it does fit perfectly after your done. The cut area is underneath it on the main console, so it's not seen but needed for the deeper cup holder.
