Can BMW remotely start my car?

Hi Guys,
I lost my keys, and was wondering if BMW can remotely start my car. Thank you.

Don't think so. BMW Assist can remotely unlock your car but not start...

They can start your car. I've had a friend who's had BMW start his car multiple times.

Just download the My BMW app. If you have a username/password you will be able to start your car. iPhone has it and I'm pretty sure Android does too.

All I can do is lock/unlock on my May build 2012. Latest version of iOS and the app.

Pretty sure this is all it can do, aside from telling you where you left your car.

Hmmm...since OnStar can do it I suspect BMW could do so with proper coercion from the police...

That said, I don't know if they can start your car. I DO KNOW Chuck Norris can...

I find it hard to believe they cannot start your car. Part of the SOS system, I'd say.

Without the CAS detecting the key there is no start period. Cas will not release the starter motor for operation unless the key and CAS authenticate successfully.

Edit: There is a remote start function that's in the CAS or NFRM module, which might allow them to do it. I have not seen it done in front of me though.

Yep, and those last 2 only work on the F series cars. I wish you could control the timed ventilation function remotely. I know you can set it in the car but if you're early or later than you anticipated, you're SOL. Would be cool to start the fans running a few minutes before I'll be in the car.

As for starting, I've never asked about it. If it's possible though, wonder what happens on MT cars. Do you have to hold your foot on the clutch for the one-minute or greater delays between requesting a command and it actually executing?

Since someone mentioned OnStar, they have a cool feature that can gradually reduce the engine's power output. It requires that your car be reported stolen and that the cops tell OnStar they've found it and are in pursuit (presumably from OnStar's tracking feature), at which point this slows the thief down. Safer than just remotely cutting the engine, and I thought it was a cool idea when I read it.
