Need feedback. ESS supercharged E92 M3 or M4?
I own a 2011 E92 M3 SMG Competition Package with 18K miles. I would like your opinion or feedback.
I would like to either install a ESS supercharger Stage 3 or buy a new M4. Which would be faster? Thanks in advanced.

Sorry, but if you only care if your car is fast, just get a Corvette with the automatic...

An M4 can be made faster for less than an E92 M3. But you have the offset of cost of the vehicle over your current car.
For the money, a used GTR is a better value than an M4 if you just want to go fast.

This. Not to mention most other cars on the road as well. It's also more unique than having just a corvette (they are a dime a dozen).

You need an F8x.
First, you'll kill the value of your e92. You'll never get the money back spent on the charger. Don't forget your bearings as well. Second, yes you'll be faster. Until mr F8x gets a tune for 2k and blows by you. If it's pure power you're after, the F platform is much easier to extract more juice from.

My biggest gripe with the F80 is that you get zero traction off the line. And then it gets worse when tuned. All the accel tests with the F80 the mags all say the same thing. We did 10 launches and we got one to work...lol.
I've had a few F80's line up against me for dig runs. They just spin and I'm gone. An e92 with a linear powerband means that you can floor it in 1st gear and even supercharged, it can hook up. Just needs good tires and solid subframe bushings (ironically just like the F80). And not sure why you are saying the F80 with a tune will blow by a supercharged e92. Maybe if the e92 isn't racing.

M4s don't sound good at all!! I think they look amazing but can't get past the horrible sound of them. Just my opinion though, some people might like the sound..
supercharge your M3 and call it a day!! I've road in a lot of fast cars gtr, c7 z06, aventador.. My buddies supercharged e92 m3 feels like it will keep up if not beat them so I don't know why somanybluecars thinks you'll get walked. It's hard to walk a 10 second car from a roll. You already have the e92 you can pick up a used charger for 7k or less and spend extra money on other supporting mods. The m4 is nice as it's a new car, it really comes down to what you really want but I know 2 f8x owners who say they enjoy driving their e9x cars more than they do their f8x.

Its hard to get the e92 M3 to hook up, especially when the pavement is anything but bone dry. Even with early morning dew on the pavement here in South Florida it's hard to extract anything approaching full acceleration as the rear tires break free in both first and second gear even with judicious throttle application.

I faced that dilemma when i got bored with my stock e92m3 after driving it for 3 years. Lets face it, stock e9x m3 is not that fast after all.
So i desided to supercharge it. I am glad i did, because every time i drive it, i cant stop smiling. OP, if you deside to go this route, i would recommend ess vt-1 550 kit with catless exhaust. Its more reliable because of the lower boost level vs stage 2 and especially stage3. Very fast with catless exhaust. I tested my car from a roll vs my friends tuned m4(no downpipe) and i beat him by 2 car length in a 1/4 mile run. Ambient temp was in low 50s with low humidity, which helps SCer a lot. |

Have almost 20,000 miles on my ESS 625, not one problem and 200HP extra really makes this car come alive. Supercharge it and laugh as you pass the fart can M4.
I would of sold my car already if I wouldn't of went FI, now I will never sell it.

there is no reason not buy a F80 if you are looking for a fast car, and you dont need a good sounding car.
i need my car to sound good and be fast. The F80 sounds like complete shit. just how i predicted it would back in 2013. |
