Any of you guys think this phone is way slow compared to the Galaxy S3? I played with both and the Note was way laggy.

I'd imagine that once rooted and with a good ROM, that problem will disappear.

Personally, just can't envision a phone that big. Reminds me of the Dell Streak. 5" screens are pushing it, IMHO.

You shouldn't have to do that.

Funny you say that. My partner just got a Note 2 and we ran Quadrant Standard on it vs. my Motorla Atrix HD (which uses same processor as Galaxy S3 but with 4.5" screen not 4.8") and my Atrix HD beat it up pretty bad. I get a score sometimes in the 5000 range while his was just cracking over 4000. Could be they have to push alot more pixels around, I don't know or Jelly Bean 4.10 is slower than the out of the box 4.0 IC sandwich.

The lag usually comes from all the bloatware on the machine. and not fully utilizing the processor. Think of it like the tunes you guys provide....BMW makes cars that appeal to the masses, so everything is homogenized, and not set to get the best performance, rather *safe* performance; but for those that want the extra power, they get the tune. Same difference.

I understand what makes a phone slower but stock vs stock, the Note had lag and just felt lacking. As Dave said, maybe there is a difference in OS or something causing it.

Also it is a quad core phone...software may not be optimized for a quad core phone as dual core phones are just being fully implemented.

I came from the GS3 and it's obvious to me that the Note 2 is faster at everything I use it for.

Interesting. Maybe I will have to look at them more. Screen swipes alone were night and day difference.

I just got the note 2 from the note 1, it is by far faster, the note 1 lacks memory to really run it properly. The touch wiz does kill the screen speed and all. Many launchers available for free in the play store that are lightning fast. Apex launcher is one of the best. Animation speed can also be changed, that is what really boggs it down.
