Airstrip Attack: Stock E92 M3 vs. Modified Camaro SS (Runway Race)

BIMMERPOST sponsored this past weekend's Airstrip Attack, a runway shootout race event held at the Trona Airport near Death Valley, California. The event saw some of the most powerful European, Domestic, and Japanese cars from California go head-to-head on a half mile stretch of tarmac. The classes ranged from 400hp+ all the way to 1000hp+.

The following race featured a stock E92 M3 coupe versus a modified Camaro SS.

We'll be posting many more shootout videos from the event, so stay tuned to our homepage for updates.

What speed did the race start at and what gear was the M3 in?

Looked like whichever it was, it should've been the next one down.

Wow, that sucks! Wished the M could put down that kind of power with the bolt-ons.

I would have tought it could , aim I wrong to think that with a catless set-up ,intake ,pulley and a good tune it would make close to 400whp !?

Seems like the standard numbers are in the 375 range.

I would have guessed so since just TTP's + tune get you 40whp , I know pulley and intake don't do much but should get you at least an other 10whp ! Hoppefully , I'll see that if TMS finally get some testpipes one day !

Bolt on camaro is no joke. I have raced one when I was stock and he put on me more than 10 car length. All his mods totaled at 3700$ which is what my eisenmann exhaust alone nearly costs

so a car that starts with roughly the same power as a M3, and onto which you add headers, intake, exhaust, tune, can beat a stock M3...

I never understood why anyone would buy an M3 to drive in a straight line. There are (cheaper) better cars for that.
