There 29's. Yes you could throw it very easy. All the carbon fiber might not be to happy. The wheels, frame, crank arms, stem, handlebars, hubs and post are all carbon fiber.

That is a sick bike. I begged and pleaded with my dad to get his Postal bike before he sold it, but no luck. Are you in the SLC area by chance? Also, are you in the service? Just curious.

You can get Titanium King Headset for $250, that would save up even more weight

I do live in SLC. I was at a local bike store for awhile but not any more.

Are the wheels an experiment on how few spokes it takes before the wheels come apart.

Wheels on the bike are stronger then a normal wheel with a lot of spokes.

The fewer spokes a.k.a paired spokes, keep the wheel from walking side to side as the spokes de-tension at the bottom most part of the revolution. By keeping them in tighter pairs there is no walking between the next set of spokes. So they are lighter and stronger than a traditionally laced 32 hole spoked wheel.
You will see all the greatest racers in the world using them. Even recreational riders get the same goods as the racers now.

Weight 1350g (old) 1295 (new 08)
Retail $1999

Dont forget your carbon water bottle cages and derailleurs.

If you wanted to see the same bike we do have one at our shop in Salt Lake if you are interested.

You can also just go to Trek's Project One web site and build one. You then build it any way you want.
