Do you mind posting a picture of the plenum? If not, can you PM me if it's any different from the pre-production units you've already posted. Thanks.

Nice! Do you mind answering how much weight the kits adds to the car? If you only have a approx, I think that will still be helpful to the community.

Roman,
Is it possible to get custom colors for the manifold and/or valve?

The bypass can be ordered in blue if you want. The manifold can only be done in satin and black by us. You could order the manifold unfinished and have a shop custom paint / powdercoat it if you wish.

Based on some of the emails and phone calls we have received after the announcement on this forum of two blown motors that had FI systems installed on them I thought I would post up some information to hopefully answer some of the questions about the safety of supercharging the S65 V8 motor. I will start by explaining how our supercharger kits are designed and tested. For those that are not familiar with ESS this will give you some insight to our development process.

Our first priority is to design the hardware for the project car. Our goal when developing a new product is to enhance the performance characteristics of the car without compromising comfort, drivability, durability, emissions and fuel consumption under normal driving conditions. Because software tuning is vital to the success of any FI system we have our own in house tuner who writes all of our NA and FI software involved from the beginning. He is one of the finest software engineers in the world and has an excellent understanding of all BMW software operating systems. Unlike some tuners we don’t build a kit then try to find software that will make it run. This approach can work but you will not get the same result you would get if the software engineer was involved in the design process from the very beginning. The end result is a kit that runs perfectly without compromise and delivers maximum performance and safety. Our kits are designed by our veteran team that has been tuning and supercharging BMW’s for 14 years.

Once a kit is designed and a prototype is made the kit needs to be durability tested. We durability test all of our kits in conditions that customers never will. This includes running the kits at higher output ratings then those that will be released to the public. In the case of the E90 M3 2 of our 3 test cars run more boost and power then the kit we will sell to the public. We also donate our prototype kits to race teams and professional car builders who take our kits and beat on them like no other. We want them to try and break something. An example of this is the GS Bildeler car that has been running the E90 M3 kit in several drifting competitions and track events in Europe. If you have seen the Youtube videos you can see that they are not holding back when it comes to pushing the limits of the car. Another example is the E46 M3 CSL Loaded car which has owned the record for the fastest Nurburgring lap and continues to push performance limits on that platform without failure of the motor or supercharger hardware. Along with extensive 3rd party testing our cars go thru a 40k+ mile in house durability testing program which consists of a 60 hour computerized load dyno test that simulates driving conditions that cannot be reproduced on the road. We continue with high speed runs on the autobahn and the Nurburgring again pushing the cars beyond anything that can be recreated on the roads here in the US. We follow this up with normal everyday driving to ensure there are no compromises made to drivability or comfort. Once we are satisfied that the kit performs to our standards we release it into production.

After durability testing is finished and the hardware goes into production we have to finish software development. This includes testing the software on US and Euro spec cars to make sure that the kit performs flawlessly and conforms to emissions standards in all regions. Also included in this is process is testing of our custom DCT / SMG software to insure that cars with these transmissions perform flawlessly with the new HP and TQ ratings. During this time we also test the softwares custom safety features such as a warnings to the operator if there is a hardware failure in the system. An example of this is a CEL that will be thrown if any part of the cooling system fails in our E90 M3 supercharger system. Codes like this will tell us what the problem is so we can get the issue resolved quickly and to also inform the operator that there is a problem that needs to addressed. There are many of these safety features built into our E90 M3 supercharger software so that the safety and longevity of the motor remains top priority.

Hopefully this will give some insight to how we developed and tested our soon to be released M3 supercharger system and also how we design, tune and build all of our supercharger products. This process takes alot of time and money but we dont want our customers doing the durability testing of our products, that is our job.

Like always if there are ever questions on any of our products feel free to PM or email me.

Thanks Roman for explaination. Cant wait for ESS kit to be released. BTW I just found out that one of local tuner in Bangkok is familiar with ESS and they are willing to do the installation for me. Guess, I'll be the first one in Thailand for ESS....
