I always wear thin and lightweight clothes when I drive so that I can extract further performance gains. I also use Golytely but will spare you the details on that. If anyone wants to get in on a group buy on ///M Performance Golytely let me know.

The increase in head room w/o the moon roof alone is worth it. Hard to be comfortable with a helmet on in a moon roof car (I'm only 5'11"), and yes I have plenty of experience in both

I went w/CF roof mainly for the extra clearance. At 6'4" I need space for my afro...the CF roof looks awesome period and it does lower the center of gravity whether or not we'd notice. It's a win win...and win for me.

despite a moonroof... 1moremod still goes around a track 3-4 seconds faster than me .. I have a carbon roof but still can't keep up .... its all about the driver...

however performance aside.... a M3 has to have a carbon roof...

For me the CF adds some much appreciated sportiness and uniqueness. On a black m3 idk how it would look(probably not like much) but on my interlagos blue it's stunning. Definitely don't miss the sunroof.

A good enema before you get in your M3 should give you minus 1-2 lbs. depending on what you ate last night.

The argument can be made that most mods on this car are bling..this is not one of them..its functional, its factory and its free..what else need I say
Well put. If you can get the CF roof for free....get it. The cost to shave 45 lbs in any other way is just ridiculous, plus CF is unique.

I think the carbon fiber roof is ugly as hell. It looks ricey to me. I went with a moonroof specifically because its functional.

There's a great little display next to the i8 concept car in the Welt that helped me put the carbon roof into perspective.

3 cylinders with handles on top are filled with equal amounts of steel, aluminum and carbon fiber (respectively). Next to these are ruler-sized strips of steel, aluminum and carbon fiber. The strips are secured on one side and allowed to move freely on the other.

By picking up the cylinders of the different materials and bending the strips you get a great idea of their respective weights and stiffness. The steel was super heavy and super bendy, the aluminum was less so on both accounts and the carbon was light as a feather and ultra-stiff.

Not the most scientific comparison, of course, but it helps illustrate why a carbon fiber roof is a good idea.

I could take or leave the exposed carbon fiber...personally I wouldn't mind my carbon roof to be painted the same color as the body of my car. Regardless of how effective it is in the real world, I think it shows the attention to detail that went into the design of this car and I'd never sacrifice it for a moonroof.

I went with the moonroof because I actually wanted a convertible, but my wife doesn't enjoy top-down driving like me so the moonroof was a good compromise. And I don't think there is really much of a performance issue. All this concern about weight savings, but most people option out their car adding several pounds anyway. If you're really hardcore, then go all the way and get a basic model.

I can see why some people would prefer moonroof over CF if they suffer from Irritable Bowel Syndrome.

90% of the people who see my car for the first time comment about the CF roof. The comments are all +ve. I'll guess that no one would make a comment if I had a moon/sun roof. My car is melbourne red and I'm still floored with how stunning it looks.

I find spitting on the ground before I get in improves lap times by 0.0002-0.0003 seconds on average. My stop watch is not sensitive enough to detect difference after passing gas prior to entry(always prior) but I'm sure it's there. Come to think of it having the moonroof allows the emission of bodily gases with less consequence and on a long drive after a big meal this COULD lead to a mesurable difference in lap times- so there you have it moonroof is faster- I'm done.

Rightfully so..the M3 coupe was one of the first production cars to include CF roof as an option.. Sexiest part of the car
